IB Best Execution for trading QQQs and SPYs

    Hi All,

    Today I did a number of BEST execution market buys and sells of the QQQs. For those instances when the order was routed to the AMEX, it took more than 5 seconds before I received a report on the fill. During that time, I watched the price move away from me.

    On the other hand, the orders sent to the ECNs were executed extremely quickly.

    BEST doesn't look like the best option. There doesn't appear to be a BEST ECN option available for the QQQs though.

    For trading SPYs and the QQQs, what execution method works best, in your option?

    Island. DO NOT route to the AMEX.

    I use Isld exclusively for the Q's. Why mess around? nyse or amex may be a couple of cents better but those times you get hung up negate any price advantage.

    I also avoid AMEX & NYSE for these index ETF's.

    Is anyone aware of the rationale for IB not offering Best_ECN on these index ETF's?

    they trade on the NYSE. I do not recall the specifics but it has to do with the fact that they are exchange listed
