IB backfill is terrible!

Backfill not available for ES, NQ.
Backfil not available for currency futures.
    Backfill not available for indices.
    No charts.
    Technical support does not answer.
Last time I contacted them, I was told it is a known problem. It seems to be enough that a problem is known, if it is known then it is not necessary to solve it.
Chat not available, tried for about half an hour.
Chat sometimes not working at all during published opening hours.
Tickets are being closed regularly without the problem being solved.
Some tickets are older than 6 months without solution.

The people at IB really do not seem to care. To be honest, I am writing here, because I am highly frustrated with their incompetence.

  3. And yet, I got an open ticket and they're requesting logs from me and having me do all sort of diagnostic tests.

I use Amibroker and it's been 2-3 weeks of problems everyday.

  4. Since years, IB is famous for bad support, bad charting backfill and charting interface... but even with these problems there are really good for the rest, probably the best...

So forget IB for TA/charting and get another solution like DTN+QT or PROREALTIME, and you will be a happy IB client like me ;)

or Ensign as top software with IB real time data and DTN as backfill....
search a solution for your problems and go trading!

  6. I'd question Ensign as the top software (I think Sierra Chart is better) but the recommendation of alternative backfill solutions is good if you've been having too much trouble with IB.

Thanks for the recommendations. I may have to look for an alternative backfill (DTN, eSignal or whatsoever) - so far I tried to avoid it because of the cost that comes with it.

I have also tried QuoteTracker, AmiBroker, Ensign and SierraChart (all good packages), but I finally decided to use NinjaTrader, which is not perfect, but more versatile. Now being familiar with C#, I can do next to anything I want. Charting is definitely much more advanced than for the other packages (you can custom program anything), and it also has excellent order execution capabilities (button trader is better here, but too sophisticated for me).

  8. Ensign has its own issues.

I've used Quotetracker + IB data and backfill for many years and I find it to be a better solution than ALL the high end charting services.

I don't think IB intends to fix this mess anytime soon. QT with DTN backfill/realtime might be the way to go to get the rig back up.

Anyone aware if DTN realtime allows for the following indicies. PREM, TICK, TRIN, UVOL, DVOL

Any DTN support on here? you have a customer if you have the above.

  9. I finally gave up using IB as backfill a month or so ago.

As others have said their realtime data is great, I think the best, but backfill is too unreliable.

I now use Sierra with myTrack data. Unfortunately I can't mix and match the two like QT but it's ok for me.

IB as a broker and realtime data is the best out there imo but backfill, look elsewhere.

    Hi,

Is anyone still having problems with backfill using IB? And how long does this crappy lack of backfill last usually? Thanks...
