I have experience to transfer 50K from BAC to IBKR with no problem via ACH. (Absolutely without phone) It is free while wire cost some fee.
OK I agree with other posters that if you want to trade with a brokerage they have the right to get certain details with you. To trade with IB I've had to give them far more personal information to prove I am capable of trading certain things and having a margin account. Having said that there are multiple ways of getting secure access to IB. a) until recently I used the simple plastic card - no phone needed. No min or max on balance. b) there is a fancy device with buttons on, which I now use (digital security card). Again no phone needed. Yes that is only available to certain customers with significant balances (>$500K). c) or you can use IB key for which you need an app on your phone (I haven't used this). This is NOT available to accounts with more than $1m. You won't need mobile signal to use this once activated - only wifi. If you don't have wifi you can't trade anyway so this is a pointless issue to raise. More here https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/index.php?f=ibgStrength&p=log (as is often the case JK, the answer to your question is available from the IB website if you could only be bothered to look) Finally don't worry guys, JK isn't working for the competition. He just has a habit of asking dumb questions (if you find that insulting JK then let me know, I'll block you and stop trying to help you, no skin off my nose). GAT
Well, after something like 10 years, jk is finally opening an account or trying to. People still give serious answer to him, I applaud your tolerance.
Nobody deny providing legal info (personal) such as SSN and address, including me. I agree those are for possible accident in margin account, similar requirement for opening credit card account. That is true for most states and countries. However someone deny/dislike to show "certain detail" such as Fingerprint+AssPhoto+Iris(Eye). But you may provide those as soon as you willingly provide. Please accept someone do NOT have fingerprint or cell phone to provide. If IB asks "No fingerprint no more customer", then I leave too. Similarly, if Bank or McDonalds asks "No phone no more customer", then I leave too. The above "if you want to trade with a brokerage they have the right to get certain details with you" may NOT true for Bank/McDonalds.
No it's due to banking regulations You are comparing a photo of your butthole to a phonenumber? You are comparing McDonalds with a bank/brokerage firm? Conclusion.... you're an idiot....
