    If you go to: http://finance.yahoo.com/q/ks?s=IBKR

you will see IB has 1.12B cap, but it also has

"Total Cash (mrq): 31.89B" in its balance ship.

    If you go to http://finance.yahoo.com/q/ks?s=YHOO

you will see "Market Cap (intraday): 34.36B"
and it also has "Total Cash (mrq): 2.21B".

Does any one some thing strange? Any explanations? Thanks.

Please note that IB and YAHOO are not in the same business sector..... so can may not be able to compare the numbers directly ......... BUT, it is too much apart !!!! ???? ....

  2. IB's mkt cap is much larger because yahoo finance fails to include the 80-90% of o/s shares held by Petterfy the CEO. IB's cash relates to its brokerage biz and means nothing.

You might consider an accounting course.;)

WAIT a second, did you imply that the TRUE IB market cap can be around between 1.12 * 5 = 5.6B and 1.12*10 = 11.2B?

In that case, it is bigger than MF Global http://finance.yahoo.com/q/ks?s=MF

Do you have any things (URL, etc) to support your comments?

    Thanks. I appreciate .......

  4. First I would suggest that if you want to look at a company's balance sheet, you look at the balance sheet, not at Yahoo's rendition of it. I haven't done that for you, but just in looking at Yahoo's numbers on IB, I would guess that there may be some errors. For instance, you could conceivably have a large amount of cash, a large portion of which was in essence a current liability on the balance sheet as well because it is customer's cash held for their benefit by IB. Yahoo's numbers on the other hand show a "total debt" of just a couple of billion, making me think that what Yahoo terms "total debt" is not accurate. To me, part of debt would be current liabilities, but chances are Yahoo has not included this. Perhaps by "total debt" they meant "total long term debt". Anyway, look at the balance sheet, not at Yahoo's numbers.

Only ten percent of IB is floated. Do the math yourself kiddo.

Nice to hear that.... Do you happen to use an URL in support that (Only ten percent of IB is floated).

    Thanks very much!!!

There is a company structure available here:
    http://individuals.interactivebrokers.com/en/general/about/about.php?ib_entity=llc

On that chart the listed company, IBKR, is Interactive Brokers Group Inc. So yes, the market cap on Yahoo refers to this company and it's 10% stake.
