I appreciate all of the feedback, but the problem is that I lack that "initial" knowledge of trading. I understand what stocks/futures are, and some jargon... but that's really it. I've watched a lot of videos in which people say things about how they shorted there because of XYZ and that it's important to come up with a strategy... but I don't know where to start. So, what is step one, two, three, etc. for a beginning trader? Stocks then futures? P.S. If I trade cheaper stocks ($5-15) instead of futures can I make similar profits with a small account?
thank you for this second post. The P. S. shows your orientation. Potential traders think about one of two things: 1. Making money, or 2. Learning how markets work. Group 1 come in one door and head for the failure door. Group 2 works to learn, purposefully, and they, know the money takes care of itself. Step 1 in the list you request is to join group 2 and ignore group 1 thoughts. To get your feet on the ground, buy a used copy of a paperback entitled: "How to Make Money in Stocks". The Author did a sketch of his beginnings in a second book with "24" in the title. On a page (170's) at the back of that book he explained how he learned by beginning with 500 bucks. In 27 months, he took the capital out of the market and put it into building an empire. (IBD) This book will give you the steps you need to follow; it destroys most of the myths you are being told by others.
Look at one set of data flowing from the markets. Step 2 is to recognize the system of numeration of the variables. This eludes most market observers. By completely understanding how data comes out of markets anyone can avail to himself the greatest trading shortcut known to man. It is almost impossible for a person to reason and think about the common thread among all market variables. Effectively, all data considerations collapse into very few matters. Can you just sit there pencil in hand and see that all market variables are GRANULAR. Making representations of variables is like stacking Legos. Step one gives the mission: learning how the market works. Step two allows you to adopt finite maths to provide for creating the system of operation of the markets. Two beliefs are acquired. The market has a system of operation. The system is granular and it is completely describable in terms of finite mathematics. To sit and think about two things and create in your mind a small core is too difficult for most. It is like thinking of what is space and what are its elements. What finite collection of items mkes the Universe work? The periodic table can into being in this manner. history records the discoveries that lead to our understandaing of how space is filled with stuff. Well the system of operation of the markets is the same. It is like thinking of your language you use to communicate. the alphabet is used to make words and words are used to make a syntax comprised of parts of speech and how parts of speech form complete thoughts and how expressions of complete thoughts tell stories of any sort imaginable. In this post, I am using language and organising principles to work out from a core to have a Universe. the Universe is the system of operation of the market.
according to the latest data, the smallest piece of the Universe is boson.but i imagine, there is something even smaller.it`s yet to be found.how do you find the smallest piece of the market, and how do you say it for sure?
Poster, I will drop you a pearl here if you are really quite new, as you say, regarless of toes stepped on. I must agree that William O'neil of IBD is a good starting place but......do NOT go down The Jack Hershey rabbit hole. Unless of course you beleive there is a spaceship in the tail of Comet Ison, or what remaims of it.
I know I took liberties in providing steps 1 and 2. I use words whose definitions are different to different people. "SYSTEM" is a cardinal thing. It is describable as: 1. a structure, 2. a process within the structure, and 3. the results produced by the process operating within the structure. Hi Ho. Hi Ho. Its off to work we go. I taught ten agers to trade for about 10 years. S &P gave my classroom a complete brokerage service once the East Coast Manage of S&P found out what my students were capable of. They all learned successfully. ET is not like a high school class in one of the forms III through VI. So ET members cannot all learn successfully. The system .... of .... operation .... of the .... market produces trading cycles. A cycle is two opposed trends, one after the other. Trends overlap. Trends are composed of the granular pieces of the market variables. All of this is pure and crystaline. There is no noise, no flaws nor any anomalies. I hear the sound of music. Just like the periodic table or the grammar of language or the scales in music, everything is RELATIVE in a complete system. Na or a noun or do ....... Na has its Cl (a compound from nature) Jack has his predication ( A sentence) Do has its mi and sol (a chord) All the pieces that exist in the markets have to be put together to have chemistry, a language, and harmony as events pass one after another. There is an order of events in chemistry, in language and in music. Therefore, the system of operation of markets follows the science and arts of the intellect of humans as well. The system of operation of the markets may be deduced by the use of the Scientific Method.
Make a list of market variables. Under each make a list of the elements. THen do a granularity test for each of these. Here is an example of one variable: Price. for price there are 10 elements. I call them cases. Take each case and express it with the lease units (ticks). See if you can find more cases. You cannot. With steps one and two you have the foundation. Use the Scientific Method to formalize the system of operation of the markets. (create the algorithm) The yield from this is the way the system of the market's operation has to be measured. As has been suggested, those who have failed to do the work are telling you to "not go down the rabbit hole". Do follow their example. Don't do the work and don't get the knowledge and skills.
Super reasoning process. My complements. No one who is in the category of this poster should give any time whatsoever to any thing I suggest. This post above provides a terrific filter for sorting out people into two groups. Use this filter.
