Well maybe that's the reason you couldn't get TWS to work properly I've had my share of issues with it. But recently set it up correctly in 64bit way with a lot more memory allocated... no more issues, except for the occasional freeze up when markets move rapidly... but you will have that with any system. I have 6 screens running and do everything on one PC from 4 years ago... I don't get why you would need 4 computers or 2 laptops to run this... email doesn't use anything, and neither does an internet browser...
I agree, I've been using a 15" laptop for the past two or three years...I kind of want to go back to an all-in-one desktop PC. I want the HP 34" Envy curved -- a 15" laptop is kind of too small, if you're working with it basically all day.
Thanks for the feedback. I had 1 x laptop dedicated just for trading 1 x laptop for designing, testing, simulator of the trading system 1 x laptop for banking, emails etc 1 x laptop for web surfing. Motive was basically for security and keeping things isolated from hackers. Eg, trading laptop never surfed the net or accessed emails. Was very convenient too as with multi screens open, i could trade, test, email, web surf, bank etc simultaneously.
Fair enough... 4x a mouse would annoy me to death But again, I do the same on my PC... although I don't run a sim. Who do you use nowadays?
Well first off i have a very large desk area, (Trestles actually but not crappy trestles) so heaps of room to spread out, the sim laptop was next to trading laptop so easy to reach over. 4 off office chairs, one room which was all computer stuff, so nothing was messy or cramped. Re trading platform, I'm now retired from the workforce, gave up on futures, back to trading stocks. Not sure if trading is correct term as i hold for as long as possible which can be as short as one day up to several weeks, average is about 3 weeks. I use ING, very simple but efficient, no bells or whistles but this is not required. All profits are tax free as it is a Pension/Superannuation setup. Trading stress totally eliminated (so far touch wood)
If you customize it, THEN save your basic customizations, then yes, that might work, of course any tweaks made AFTER that would not be in that early save and you'd probably forget about them. Simply saving the settings any old time and reloading, is not a fresh install.
