  1. If you really want to save your joints, do not use the any treadmill, use a stationary bike instead.
Weight lifting is a necessary part of any intelligent fitness program. Stay away from heavy weights and do fast, dynamic sets with lighter weights.
That gay cheetah comment is funny, now i know that you are just yanking the chain .

  2. Hombre, with each 10lb loss in bodymass i noticed a huge difference in the way i felt and in the way moved. i move with greater ease, efficiency and energy levels thru the roof. Even when at what i thought was far enough, with another 10lb drop i felt even better! i'm planning on dropping at least another 10lb, maybe 15 or 20. we'll see..that's why the cheetah comment (i may end up LOOKING like a world class marathoner) :D

The treadmill is harder than any stationary bike, i actually want impact stresses to my skeletal frame. Those stresses strengthen bone and thicken cartilage as well improving my locomotion efficiency. My movement is more fluid since i started running.

Weightlifting alway left me blown away and tired for 2 days after a workout. Achy joints and muscle, interfered with working and concentration. Running i feel invigorated ..

Here you go macho, my swimmer has conference relays tonight. They leave from school and don't get home until 10 pm or so. He needs a dinner with him, so what does he ask for? A whole sweet terriayki chicken sub from subway. He even asked for double helpings on all the vegies.

  5. i love reading about fat people's e-stats.

sorry but only world-class endurance athletes who've been training their whole lives have 45bpm pulses. not someone who's been obese, out of shape, and started working out a year ago. now go climb back on your sofa and finish that bag of chips, fatty. :D

    here are his real stats:

    5'7", 240 lbs, 50% bf
    19-minute mile
    2 pushups max.
    300 cholesterol
    160/100 blood pressure

I feel better all the time. I hit the tread mill 3 times a week for 50 minutes, and lift weights the other days, but follow none of the new"math" for working out. My heart rate at the docs office has always been 54 - 62 bpm, and when I go to donate blood, which I do on schedule every 8 weeks, it is in that same range. Running bores the hell out of me. I switch my lifting between heavy and light with reps, and use as much of my own weight as possible, ie pull ups, push ups, planks, dips etc. I do throw a 25lb weight on my upper back for pushups, as I get bored with reps.
I am looking to get leaner as I want to get back into rock climbing. Lean mass is much better for climbing. It may kill me though, currently I'm 5'10" and 174, and for climbing I'd like to be down to 160 - 164. I hate weight loss. I'd also add at 47 I've actually lost 1.5" of height. I assume that is due to a compressed spine, or whatever. For the 20 years after teenage years I measured 5"11", but for the last 7-10 years my height has gone down to where now I am 5'10".
Anyway I don't get the fixation with running, but to each his own. I'd rather be 5'10" 190lbs and all muscle, than a skinny runt runner, but again, to each his own.

Sorry meant I measured out at 5
'11.5" for the longest time, at various doctor offices.

  10. Nobody could be possibly jealous of your obvious lie. You just took it too far.
If you've said 51 , your lie would be more palatable

You will never crack 5min/mile for real. My feeling is you will lie about it in a few weeks though.
