I paid for 'the Secret'

  1. So is a lot of bull shit. The oldness or newness of a concept says nothing to its validity.

You know what the hell is the point. You have already taken the world's biggest placebo and there's no turning back now.

I think people need to just admit that you reap what you sew. But that is too bitter for most people to swallow so they believe in something, anything that alleviates them of the burden for their own success or failure.

I wasn't failing! It was this law of attraction business and my bad juju was causing Thor to shit in my spirit wolf's mouth. Everything makes sense! I am now a "success" and by success I mean that I am now in a MLM and about to flip my first house for no money down. I cant lose!

    God bless America!

That's not to say that a positive attitude is irrelevant... of course it matters but it is a first step. A means not an end. I do think that this BS works for some people because it gets them to start DOING SOMETHING, anything. They actually get off their fat ass and start doing things, in real life. Then shit happens and they adjust. But the ascribe it to some mysticism. No all the mysticism did was motivate you (because you were too weak to motivate yourself) to actually attempt something.

The reason why most people are so pitiful is that 90% never even attempt to succeed in life. They don't even lift a finger. They expect gold bars to drop in a neat pile in front of them because they are special or talented or smart or pretty or pious or whatever. So when they get motivated (whether high on the J-man, Scientology, the Secret, secret sauce, or Family Matters reruns) they actually now have a chance of actually succeeding.

Like I said, the structure of reality is thought... quantum mechanics is in the process of proving that, and by definition proving what occultists have maintained for thousands of years... no biggie

  3. So what if two people think two different things? How does that get manifested? Is it a battle of the wills?

Can you turn into a dinosaur if you concentrate hard enough?

If thoughts had power beyond motivating people to take real action then why don't you just think about gold bars filling up your mail box and live off that?

The sellers of this hype love to give you half truths.

Sure there is a Law of Attraction, any 5 year old with a magnet can see that.

    BUT

What about the other universal / physical / spiritual laws that they forget to mention to you ?

The only people I see getting rich of selling new age self help sht is the authors of the regurgitated half truths.

Don't get me wrong I'm a big believer in positive thinking and visualization techniques but these are nothing new and the Bible and Torah have taught us about the power of Faith since the beginning of time.

The only question is what are you putting your Faith into. ?

    Yourself LOL

    or

The Creator of the Universe. :)

  6. Since thought leads to action thinking is a prerequisite for trying which is a prerequisite for success. Just because everyone who succeeds thinks about success does not mean that thought alone caused the success. It was the first step not the final step. Thought leads to action and it was the actions that lead to success. How anyone can think otherwise is pure delusion.

Everyone who succeeds also breathes. Does that mean the breathing causes success or merely a prerequisite for success?

  8. Lol. Obvious but still hilarious.

My point is just that I don't think that thinking correctly (as these people describe) is what causes the "success" to manifest itself I believe it is that you decide to do something (thought) and wind up, over time, doing it. There is a big difference. One is practical, the other is mystical.

    Gott,

The main danger that I see with this stuff is that they confuse and blur the word confidence with competence.

It feeds into peoples need for a fast fix or easy pill and this stuff only sells in American culture mostly.

  10. I'm pretty sure it has universal appeal. I actually think it works in America more because there is actually more opportunity. You can't really tell people that are starving to death that it's because their head isn't in the game. They would eat you.

But in America where 99.9% of all problems are self-inflicted the doctrine is about as close to reality as something patently false can be.
