    First of all, How To Make Money in Stocks by William O'Neil is not crap in my opinion. But I do not think it is a good beginner's book. It's a must read if you want to understand the contents of Investors Business Daily. But that will come later.

    If you wan't to get a good start from reading books try
    High Probability Trading by Link and
    Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets by Murphy.

    After reading about 50 or so books trying to learn I wish that I would have started with those two.

    However, books alone are no substitute for actual trading experience. Just like a Police Academy student isn't a good cop when he graduates the Academy. It takes experience on the streets to develop skills.

    That's some of the best advice you'll ever get! That should be mandatory advice for anyone new to the markets!
