    Hi Folks---
8 times this morning I gave gotten a message saying a network cable is unplugged and my local area connection is lost. I have a cable modem connected to my computer and of course everything is connected. Any ideas? Thanks

  2. Network card might be bad.

I am thinking the same thing---if the card is bad, wouldn't the device manager say so, or am I dreaming?

it could be anything on the network loop:

    1) bad nic
    2) bad cable
    3) bad swith/hub
    4) bad hub/switch on the modem/router.
    5) corrupt nic driver

You need to test one by one...I have seen all of them...

all I have is a cable modem and my computer---I am not on a network and do not use a hub of any kind.

First blow the dust, wiggle the cable. This is rather dangerous but works for me (but do it at your own risk, I am not responsible for any damage. Make sure you have a backup) ---> hard restart = just hit the restart key.

  7. It's most likely a bad nic card.

It might be a result of bad weather.

  8. The last time that happened to me it was the cable going from the pc to the modem.
