Get a Flybook. You will not want to depart from it once you have it.

Edit: The question in your mind was about the cost. When the cost is so high in comparison, you will be able to justify that by other means.

 

If you are worried about being out of touch with the markets you must have a good laptop. Just think, it will save you from rolling your desktop to the throne when nature calls.

+1 for the EEEPC. Great mobile machine! Never traded off it though, but should handle the "vacation trading" you described, sans the high res screen.
