Covering Hong Kong and everything else... http://www.interactivebrokers.com/php/tradingInfo/calendar2005.pdf
Nice posts guys! Mokwit, how about a little color next time? haha (sarcasm). Thanks for the insight! Alot more people on here trading it than I thought. It was a little rough last night with the high AND low of the session being made in the first ONE minute bar. zzzzzzzz. I didnt make any trades last night due to the small range. I still have some bugs to work out and alot to learn but you guys have made it a little easier for me. I switched to the Hong Kong server last night (well, it will be done over the weekend) when I was unable to log back in around 11:00 pm Chicago time. Nice work on the calendar KIWI. That will make life a little easier. Anyway, good luck to everyone and thanks again for all the great info. Jim
Another reason for the volatility is that there are only around 30 stocks in the index and the index in turn is really dominated by a handful of large caps or really maybe just 1 - HSBC (0005.HK).
Hi, Can anyone tell me what the typical spread is on HSI futures from someone like IB and does anyone have any experience of running IB's TWS software on a mac? If so, how does it run and what hardware are you using??
First: the spread on the HSI should not vary from broker to broker as all we do is report what is at the exchange on a live basis. If you've been suffering through the past couple of quiet days, the spread has usually been 1 tick. Most often it is between 1 and 3 ticks. HOWEVER - note the caps, it can get volatile and gap around. Second: Mac: I've got a mac at home and it works very well.
