What does the French and British in the revolutionary war have to do with the US ousting a dictator and jump starting a new democratic govt in Iraq? I don't see any analogy there. You think 9/11 was our fault? There probably isn't much I can say then to change your mind about that very extreme position. On second though the reason it happened was probably our fault in a way. It is our fault that no action was taken after the first wtc bombing, and the USS Cole bombing. I am happy to see action being taken now. Who knows what we would have had to deal with if we did not (it looks like we may have thwarted a subway bombing in NYC among other things).
hmmm who ever said this is a great society? Just because our country is better then most doesn't make us great. The more u read about the history of american culture the more you realize how corrupt we have always been and always will be. Sorta a sad truth :/ A post or 2 has it sorta right. It shouldn't be about political parties, it should be about America. What is good for America. Think America first but both parties are too busy measuring each others penises to realize wtf is going on.
Name a country that the US brought democracy to? How about preserving it in most of Europe in WW2 for starters. Bombing Iraq towns and their water/power plants? That was during the first 2 weeks of the war. Is Afghanistan perfect? No. It's a hundred times better than it was. It is no longer a terrorist haven where al queda roams and rules freely. The terrorist training camps are gone. You seem jealous of Haliburton and other rich companies. Why? It seems they have products or services that people want or need, and so they sell them. That is capitalism. If you envy their money and success then why don't you develop products or services that people want or need too. There are start-up success stories every day. Instead of detesting someone else's success, improve your own. The poor pay for the war? That is incorrect. The top earners pay the majority of the tax revenue.
Quote from Hamlet: Name a country that the US brought democracy to? How about preserving it in most of Europe in WW2 for starters. You clearly forget those countries were ALREADY democracies before the war ! Other examples ? Common, you will find one if you look for... Bombing Iraq towns and their water/power plants? That was during the first 2 weeks of the war. Done, may I remind you, for nothing. There was no WMD in Irak, it is now OBVIOUS to everyone, even to the blinds. US had nothing to do there. Getting rid of Saddam Hussein has come long after as an objective of the war. You are so much influenced by your politicians and their discourse that you seem to have become completely blind. Is Afghanistan perfect? No. It's a hundred times better than it was. It is no longer a terrorist haven where al queda roams and rules freely. The terrorist training camps are gone. Where are you taking this 'hundred times better' ??? Would the US be a better country if it was abandoning all its US army bases throughout the world ??? You seem jealous of Haliburton and other rich companies. Why? It seems they have products or services that people want or need, and so they sell them. That is capitalism. If you envy their money and success then why don't you develop products or services that people want or need too. There are start-up success stories every day. Instead of detesting someone else's success, improve your own. Are you so blind not to see the connections between these industries and the US government ? If these companies are so successful in their respective businesses, why then do they need to spend so much time and efforts for lobbying in Washington ? The poor pay for the war? That is incorrect. The top earners pay the majority of the tax revenue. The poors pay for the war because all the tax revenues that should serve as a 'social lift' to fight inequalities are used in a stupid war whose result is evident everyday.
in the united states the mumber of students per class is 1/2 t0 3/4 size of japan . teacher salaries are 50 per cent higher. in the US. how do you explain the low level of achievement of american students vs. japan. it is not always about how much you spend
Quote from TorontoTrader2: The USA is the #1 arms dealer and manufacturer the world and supplies many rogue regimes. Stop doing that and I guarantee that terrorist attacks in the USA will stop forever. are you saying that the terrorists are "freedom fighters" and are trying to bring down rogue governments. as one iman said in london, it will not be over until the crescent flag is flying over downing street. pacifist attitudes only encourage terroriststo expand their goals, the best way to fight terrorists is to fight them on their own soil and incapacitate or bring down any government that allowsterrorists in their country
There was nothing to argue about in your reply science trader. Many of us Americans are in fear of something we can't even explain what's going on ourselves... Mind you many of us stare at our televisions and do nothing but shake our heads at what we seem to have lost control over... Obviously you could understand why many of us Americans would say how the Swiss have it great out there... If for surely just the reasons to not have to have the kind of stress it is to know that we deal with these kind of issues everyday... Mind you also though, I will not down my own country either. If one thing is for sure I can surely say amongst the places we could have be born to, this is surely a better situation. Considering the opportunity that can be extended to you here if you have proper knowledge... Although I will say this about the entire World... At some point we forgot that the entire World wasn't civilized, by the means of saying that Life wasn't a precious thing. At one time it was considered civilized to shoot a man at 10 paces in your front yard because they called you a foul name... Rich always got Richer... The Poor always stayed poorer... Pretty much the same premise today, but we seemingly think that the world has become more civilized because we have a T.V. to look at and our buildings and roads seemingly are straight now... Mind you life was much different just 100 years ago... Seemingly a long time ago but only because most people from those days have now passed on and have been long forgotten. Now where is my statement going??? Back to companies like Haliburton, Exxon, and other companies owned in part or in whole by our "leaders" of societies... I think we need not illusion ourselves further that the people that could do something about the situations the world sees is because they just don't care. Simply because most everyone they run over are the little people... We don't even have enough money to have a voice of our opinion... And mind you if you do belong to the top of the Earth's wealthy you'd better keep your mouth shut or they'll do it for you... I'm quite sure this is the attitude that is offered to men like Bill Gates that aquired wealth so quickly... Back to our Haliburtons... Also realize that although there are Haliburton's here in America. We must remind ourselves of the Oil Cartels and Sheeks that own Everything in the countries that we have grown so particularly interested in these days... I speak of them because I have no doubt in my mind that they might invite these happenings upon there lands secretly... If not surely of the idea for there countries like the UAE to survive as nations in the future instead of them not being one big pile of sand one day... After time has forgotten oil because it ran out... I think it's best examples are the things being done right in Dubai http://realestate.theemiratesnetwork.com/ where some of the most grand Real Estate projects are being completed as we speak... Including what's considered the 8th wonder of the world The Palm Islands... I just find it funny that they think they would be selling all that real estate there developing to people in there own countries that will never be able to even think about living there... Mind you also how they structure the land agreements there on certain properties... While just a few "blocks" away an American citizen couldn't come there without getting there head cut off... I'm going to leave this alone for now though and maybe someone doesn't like what I have to say... I really don't care... I've got a dropdead gorgeous girlfriend and I'd rather be making Love than War anyday of the week... But as long as I have to sit in front of a computer screen to make a living... I don't mind giving my 2 cents.... Oh and thank me later if you make any money on any real estate deals.... I know I will be.... I thought to think about something after I finished... It will take Overstanding rather than Understanding to get this!!!
I believe you whole heartedley... You forget about that us "poor" Americans will have to give all our money away to the IRS if we could pull off what you do every year Oh, also this was directed to everyone not just you my friend...
