The risk free money I estimate is 1-3m a year.
    Medium money is 10ish
Capital outlay looks to be on the order of 3-5m but I haven’t gotten through enough paperwork to know for sure
I found one of my competitors there and estimate he’s using around 60m but he’s very active.

    At least 3 reasons.
    1) I find the hiring process quite tedious. And while I’m not super involved with it anymore, at the end of it you just end up with more of the same people with the same background. For juniors.

    2) I work with the same people all day everyday. It’s rejuvenating to do something a bit different.

    3) I can’t put anyone senior on it. It’s not worth their time. Honestly, not worth my time either but I’m addicted to weird markets. Maybe not worth time isn’t accurate. But it’s better for them to stay with markets they know rather than do a side quest.

  3. Would you hire someone who refuses to cut losses or use stop losses?

cut losses. Sure. But trading for cutting losses should happen maybe every 2 years. More often raises questions.

Stops are pretty useless. I don’t even have them implemented in the current system. If anyone with experience says they need or use stops I would have a lot of questions. Very few strategies would have a high enough sharpe to tolerate that amount of sloppiness of execution.

What if your thesis is momentum. The. Wouldn’t stops be appropriate as a signal?
We had a guy who was incredible at finding the trends (in equities) before everyone else did. He would ride them until he would have a blow up. He would make like 50percent over a few weeks/months and then give back 20 and stop out (netting 30).

Other people’s stops. Yeah. We use a bit. Not great at it. There are too many preconditions to filter on to get decent signal. I’m sure other ppl do it better.

We are pretty weak at trend or momentum trading in general. For better or worse. Much better at RV or market making. Personally I like pushing during a move but I won’t put big dollars there.

How is " cutting a loss" different than a stop?? Im assuming partial vs full liquidation??

At the Hedgie I worked at, stops weren't necessary as Big Brother would shut you down ..very few questions asked..And it's a massively successful fund

Can you elaborate on this new market that is 'Orthogonal' to all else?
Not interested in working with you or anyone, just curious.

I meant as a signal that your thesis was broken. Not as someone else’s stop was your signal.
