I have lost over half of my net worth/life savings trading forex.

    You will just have to work some overtime (or get a second temporary job), 150 hours at min wage should be more than enough to get your money back.

    You have a nice tax write off and you learned some lessons. Most traders have blown up an account or two along the way.

    Nearly any wealthy person on their death bed would gladly trade every dollar they had to be 18 again. Life is to long to get hung up on losing <$1k.

    you're lucky this lesson happened to you when you're young and only down $900. There are older traders who have blown family savings, loaned money, lost wives/kids, retirement funds, taken their own lives etc.

    My mistake. You can deduct up to $3,000 in losses even if you have no gains.

    Remember, he has blown half his life savings of $900! So the other $900 must be going to loaned money, lost wives and kids, etc. Teehee.
