I follow no one ... I grasp an idea.. I study and test it for myself.. I backtest ways to trade it.. and I develop a strategy to see if it has an edge. I could care less what others say or do unless it is a thought I may want to study that I had not thought about before. And I only take away a concept or thought.. nothing more. Thinking for yourself is crucial to become a successful trader and it is 100% opposed to your recommendation to me. Maybe you should try it.
Why don't you show some actual FACTS that guys who use PA don't make money instead of repeatedly running your big mouth about how it doesn't. For the love of god either show some evidence or STFU already. Do you have any other purpose on here besides the same old bs ? It's beyond old. I don't use traditional TA, but know people out there who do and do very well. It's not for me, but for me or someone to come on here and say it doesn't work, without proof, is pathetic. Was your ex wife sleeping with Leonardo Pisano ? You sure act that way. http://www.investopedia.com/article...strategies-trading-fibonacci-retracements.asp
Surf has his Price Drivers (aka Price Darts). He has a bunch of indicators (Econ data, COT data, market sentiment data, etc). When a certain amount of them have positive or negative implications in the stock market he creates a signal. Based on how many are pointing that direction he gives a score/reading to it. The more pointing that way the higher the score. It's all based on what PAST data has implied to future moves in the market. In all honesty what he is doing is no different then what a guy who uses a head and shoulders formation does to put on a trade. Surf just can't admit it. But what he is doing is no different than the approach TA guys use.
Past PRICE data printed on a chart is what TAers use. Price Drivers don't use past price-- so the system is completely different than ta. First nice day of the last several. Going to the beach. See ya! surf
surf - I got your back brooks - PHD....., surf - got nothing brooks - trader..., surf - professed failed trader brooks - journalist - authored / published a few books..., surf - journalist..., no books??? brooks - sells trading related material..., surf - sells trading related material (on a smaller scale) brooks - TA expert.., makes money with it - surf - TA expert..., keeps espousing it doesn't work ( ) brooks - tries to help people become traders - surf - never seen a beneficial post from him brooks - writing style sucks - surf - you got him on this one (good job) brooks - has no clue who surf is - surf..., spends many hours / posts trying to discredit brooks Come on traders - have a pity for "the surf" He is simply inadequate - either amongst his peer (though I doubt brooks would consider surf a peer) ..., or traders RN

If you're in the Midwest, the salmon run on the Pere Marquette in Michigan is something to consider. Have stayed here several times: pmlodge.com Great guides, too.
On the subject of volume and time. A market steadily moving up on low volume destroys shorts the same way higher volume moves do. There is a joke I can't remember about telling your broker "but this move has no volume" when you get the margin call. I have studied and tested Market Profile (TPO) and Volume Profile. I don't trade intraday, I wish I could (anyone want to mentor me?), I use the studies to extract data to provide me a quantitative basis for trading. Psychological defect, I need that crutch. There is no volume in FX, so I use the TPO study in Sierra Charts to get the data I need. Let me tell you, it works perfectly. Steidlmayer knew what he was on to when he designed Market Profile. Volume may move price, but that happens over time. Study price over time and you capture the same effect. I don't bother having volume on my charts, though I do use Volume Profile for Futures data capture. I tested TPO too, had a very significant correlation, but I use Volume Profile simply because volume is available in Futures.
Thanks for the writing compliment! If he can afford my rates, maybe i should "rewrite" brook's material----- LOL!
