Understanding that nobody is likely to actually read all of this but should anybody, I should say this. While ADHD can manifest as impulsivity and trouble with executive function, it’s important to note that it also includes traits like hyperfocus, emotional dysregulation (intense of disproportionate reactions to fairly ordinary events) and challenges with time management. Many adults develop coping strategies to manage symptoms, such as setting routines, using reminders, or breaking tasks into smaller steps. ADHD is also highly variable; not all adults with ADHD are impulsive or inattentive in the same way. Hyperfocus on stuff that is interesting is the good side of it. During hyperfocus, people with ADHD can be extremely productive or deeply engrossed in something they find stimulating or interesting. The amount of time hyperfocus lasts is very variable, could be hours or two years of intense attention to a topic. It drives a lot of innovation in the world but may not amount to anything productive. It is important to realise that having a ton of knowledge on a topic does not mean the person can always synthasise this into new expert techniques and insights.
I don't have the physical hyperactivity side of ADHD at all. Inattentive ADHD, which doesn’t involve the classic signs of restlessness or hyperactivity. Instead, it manifests through difficulty sustaining attention, daydreaming, and being easily distracted, which can be more internalized symptoms. Trump on the other hand is buzzing with physics hyperactivity. This guy is a convincing ADHD expert but somebody who speaks as slowly as he does..I can't imagine his patients love sessions? I find the best way to get through it is to imagine I'm watching Steven Wright.
I used to work for Richard Branson at one stage and we got on really well. He was big into the whole work hard but have dinner in the evening with your colleagues, in the Epicurian philosophy style. Though ADHD was not something that crossed my mind that I had then, Richard has always been very open about his. His openness about the condition has helped highlight how ADHD doesn't have to be a hindrance but can instead offer unique perspectives, particularly in business. Which is good for Trump I guess except Richard fucking hates Trump for his dark triad and cruelty. Richard's daughter Holly became a medical doctor which I think is a great testiment to his character. I remember well once chat we had about ways we had to trick ourselves into interest in a topic to allow some focus on it. My older brother has dyslexia. He was fortunate that an aunt working in education was an early believer in dyslexia therapy. We had a score of taking books and other tools that helped him reach a functional reading level at a younger age; cutting edge in the 1970s.
The prior video is worth a look as he discusses research done which unsurprisingly shows that entrepreneurs disproportionately exhibit ADHD. Something like 12 percent of the general population have it but 62% percent of CEOs do. We were planning to attend a week-long retreat, but a landslide blocked the road, forcing us to return home. While wide awake at 4 AM, I took the opportunity to call an ADHD specialist in England who had been recommended by a friend. Fortunately, I was able to schedule a session. Although I have ADHD, my symptoms are relatively mild. Some thoughts after the session: The waxing and waning of ADHD traits is quite common and can be influenced by various factors, such as stress, sleep, diet, or even the specific demands of a given environment. ADHD itself is typically variable, with symptoms sometimes intensifying and at other times seeming to subside. However, there isn't a specific clinical term for this fluctuation other than recognising it as part of ADHD's inherent variability. This pattern could be described as context-dependent or situational ADHD, where symptoms become more pronounced in certain circumstances or when faced with specific tasks. For instance, in less structured, less stimulating environments, a person might struggle more, while in high-interest or high-urgency situations, they may exhibit fewer ADHD traits. I'm at my best in a crisis. The more chaotic things get, the clearer-headed I become. I'm pretty sure my now wife decided she liked me when we were driving her mother's old (French) car for a week and it kept breaking down, a couple of times in the fast lane of a busy motorway. I was in my element, calm as a cucumber. Trading was also good for me, but it was hard to resist scalping and stick to mathematically sound trades. Some people use the phrase ADHD-like tendencies when traits aren't consistent or don't fully meet diagnostic criteria. If symptoms are less severe and episodic, it could also point to an overlap with other conditions like anxiety, depression, or even hormonal fluctuations, as these can amplify or reduce ADHD symptoms.
Back to politics, Trump also likes a crisis but his narcissist side wants ones that he can easily solve. So he creates them. The perpetual storm around him. Too exhausting, just say no.
I don't have a failed Etsy store, I built a predecessor that I lost interest in and just gave it to somebody. An interesting diagnostic shortcut here: https://youtube.com/gXOclLTy_RM I held on to a car for years longer than usual mostly because the windscreen wipers were just right I'm sure everybody does that.
Appreciate the PMs and answer but don't be shy to just speak up here. At least 12 percent or higher of males have ADHD and I'm sure more have some level of it. 60-70 percent of entrepreneurs have it, in a respectable survey, and this is a trading site. The D distorder is subjective, if you can make it work it is maybe D for a dynamic of your life.
Balancing multiple projects can be both a blessing and a curse. Like you, I often juggle various tasks and need help to stay on track. It's great that your family provides a steady influence. Setting a good example for your daughter is crucial. Trump’s approach might work for some, but leadership often requires a balance of interest and importance-driven actions. Being a jack of all trades can lead to chaos without proper management. Keep spinning those plates, but remember to focus on completing key projects too!
Well just as I have a free afternoon I'm trying an ADHD med, so far only my tinnitus is louder. Considering what the blue and red pills do I was hoping the orange would wake me up from what has to be a fake Trump infested reality
