I miss Max. I hope he didn't blow up his account. Despite the politics bs that he got sucked into because he's an outspoken type, which by default led to many here ostracizing him and carrying it over to his trading threads... Max was (is) a good dude, he'd help anyone who asked. A tad crazy though on the "goin all in thing". Lol, thats probably why I like him. Difference is I learned years ago. Its only money... who cares.
being a 'good' person has jack to do with profitable trading imo. I don't know what the guys net worth is but betting a substantial portion of your net worth on a coin flip is reckless and the exact opposite of what a pro trader should be doing. normally there is a reason why someone is trading like this. here are a few: * Negative Self Image causing self sabotage behaviour * Boredom - gambling for kicks * 'death wish' syndrome the OP comes across like he wants to be seen as humble. to me it just comes across as weak and stupid. if the guy had a family I would go further and say selfish.
Really, the only mistake he made was not having an "uncle" point...knowing when you're wrong. I thought we could easily see 14000 back in March. So how much room do you give a once every 10 year trade? I don't know how you could have based a reasonable stop on TA or price action alone on that trade. But if you limit the loss to a small % of the account, it's hard for a small loser to turn into a big loser. I average in on trades all the time, but I know when I have to get out. Sometimes the trade I cover turns into a winner. But for my sanity, I would rather be wrong with a small loss, than wrong with a big loss.
Yeah so I saved the response to this one to when I wasn't busy. Ok, you're new here. That's a maybe so, ....or perhaps a maybe not. Who knows. Either way. I did not comment on whether or not Max is or was a great trader. I said he's a good dude. And he is. There's more to life than trading, and with that said let me caveat that with the fact that your insights are 100% spot on. If you do a search, you'll see that I have always been a voice of reason tempering his gambling tendencies. Either way.... Max is (was) a good dude. And I mean no belittlement by this.... but every now and then I feel compelled to end a post with it.... "Case closed." Case closed.
Max's admission is uber refreshing, and I bet a lot of folks here have had the same kind of "Oh-shit" moment in their trading career. If B1S2 was as honest and forthright as Max, would you think B1 was also a good dude? *snicker* I would, just for him being honest. When that day of honesty will manifest in him is still a mystery, though.
really. you think a lot of guys on here have spaffed 250k large ones on a coin flip. its beyond reckless.
Its not. However its also not a place for a newbie to walk around swinging their dick like some seasoned hard-core trader with some cavalier attitude portending they've been there and back. Maybe you have... my instincts say you have. Good. Just temper the bravado a tad. If you had a friend who had a problem, would you not help them? Or would you feel more empowered in your own mind to put them down? Life is too short to be a dick. Let's move on. I'm watching GPS. LB too. LB as a short. -vz
