I escaped cuba to leave communism and now this!

  1. I have to think you have perfectly stated the way the majority of voters feel.

Obama is certainly an appealing guy, but youhave to consider what comes into office with him. His administration will be filled with far left crazies. His support is based on angry blacks, the most extreme leftwing unions and socialist agitators like ACORN. To the extent he has said anything about policies, it is straight from the extreme left, eg surrender in iraq, socialized medicine, big tax increases, handouts we can't afford and an open doors immigration policy. No thanks.

  4. Some observations:

    1. First, the proposed capital gains increase is to be between *20%* and 28 %. Some panicky - hyperbolic - posters have assumed that 28% is a slam dunk and are planning their escape back to Cuba.

    Good luck with that decision.

You might want to consult with "Saxon22" and get some guidance as to where Cuba ranks on the overall standard of living / happiness / and most liveable lists.

By the way - if you "escaped from Cuba" to the U.S. before 2003 - the maximum capital gains rate was ... (drum beat, please) ... 20% when you got here. So, maybe you should rethink that "reverse commute" ...

Assuming Obama doesn't dial that down a bit (which he probably will), the increase to 28% will be the most difficult (i.e., nearly impossible) to get passed. Something like 17.55 or 20% is more likely.

    So chill the fuck out.

    2. So-called "Nascar Dads" don't tend to vote Democrat, anyway. So not having "Nascar Dads" supporting Obama or Hillary is irrelevant. They didn't support Kerry, Gore or Bill Clinton, either.

    3. There is no support for McCain on this thread.

Some have said "there are no good choices" - but most of the squealing has been over the (not likely to happen) 28% capital gains rate.

How is McCain going to move the U.S. up the standard of living list?

By writing a $125 million dollar check everyday for Iraq for the next 100 years?

That works out to Four TRILLION (Trillion !) - Five hundred sixty two BILLION - Five hundred Million DOLLARS, for you home gamers ...

But, why worry about more than FOUR TRILLION DOLLARS ($45 billion a year) when you can squeal about a return to the pre-2003 capital gains rate?

A capital gains rate that was in place when the stock market performed extremely well?

As far as McCain the individual is concerned, I personally ignore all of the squealing by Rush and Laura I. about McCain.

For me, with all due respect to his military service and his time as a POW for this nation - it blows my mind that McCain got outflanked in South Carolina by George W. Bush (of all people!) in 2000, and then spent much of the next eight years shaking Bush's hand. Yeah - he spoke out here and there - but he was supportive of Bush overall.

Someone tell me ... What is so "maverick" about that?

  5. Let me add Canada to this list. We have higher tax here but it is ok, because we have universal health care. Everyone here will be treated rich or poor. That is the law, and it is a lie if they tell you otherwise.

  6. Some people would prefer to make the decision themselves on how much and where to spend their money on healthcare. Universal health care generally gives you fewer options, lower service quality, and encourages people to be a wasteful drain on the system (thereby unfairly driving up the costs to others).

  9. And USA is the only country in the world to not allow its citizens the freedom of visiting Cuba.

Tell me, why hasn't the USA "Liberated" Cuba and saved all tis people. *rolls eyes*. C'mon castro was even in bed with russia at one time. Big threat? Are we to believe the USA somehow overlooked this fact? What perverse reason does the US have for punishing cuba people with sanctions.

  10. You do not know what you are talking about. You are brainwashed, we have the choice which doctor to go, Our prescriptions are cheaper (that is why lots of Americans cross the boarder to buy here). That is the reason we are voted one of top most livable Country in the World.
