I did it!...I just configured and ordered a Athlon Dual Core from CyberPowerSystems

  1. lets say you're running xp64bit, most of your apps are 32bits anyway. what's the point?

i have an amd64 3500, it probably will never run 64bit code unless when i retire it to run linux.

  2. I don't foresee any I/O problems, here are the specs. The only reason I bought it was it was discounted so much. Now I have a machine that will carry me into the future and can handle just about any project, all for the price of a good desktop.

My cost with the software will be $1,303.00

  3. Don't spend your money on computers folks. When you get the "itch" try to make it past that by writing in these hardware forums in ET.

I made it this time and got by with a beautiful used Dell 8250 which is awesome, for 350 bucks.

The 64 bit dual cores are sexy and there are some really good deals out there...but there are also so good used computers out there that are better deals and will suffice.

P.S. I think some really important things to consider is reliability. High performance cars do not last as long. I have four computers now with two isp's. I have the gasoline generator and back ups on removeable media. I got Mcaffee and a landline with Kinko's a quarter of a mile away. Ok..My trading room is reasonable outfitted! I am ready! Bring on the Cash! (I taught Wifey how to watch the scalping system, and she bagged 1% last night while I was sleeping)

  4. lower end computers are cheap. anything they sell within the 350-600range at compusa, bestbuy, circuitcity & frys are good enough for trading, surfing, browsing, word processing. but you might need to toss in 50-100bucks for extra ram

  5. For someone who started this thread, and then did a complete 360 and bailed, might say a little bit about your personality and decision making process. Its just a thousand dollars. What if prices start going up you might look back and say why didn't I just pull the trigger. As T Boone Pickens said:

Be willing to make decisions. That's the most important quality in a good leader. Don't fall victim to what I call the ready-aim-aim-aim-aim syndrome. You must be willing to fire.

  6. I never claimed to be a leader....(I am a trader)

    rickshaw woman,

    what is your proble...

You go around here like a woman, who does not trade...you say all the correct things. I have been in this game far too long recognize these attributes.

Go back to your mothers basement and learn how to trade and come back when you have the knowledge, to talk about your trades...otherwise be gone to your rickshaw...

I have published what I make in trading and I am up to 7% so far this month....can you do that? if so, then you will get my respect. This is trading and Profit is all that matters...

I regret to post like this, its just that you piss me off with all your idiotic posts around here pretending to trade. You do not have the first clue as to the attributes and requirements of what it takes to trade consistently with profit...I'm curious, are you from one of the Asian countries? Because I have worked with several good Asian traders and if you are Asian, you need to overcome discipline with a "break out of the box" mentality to reach the next plateau. Also things change and your biggest weakness is to recognize change.

  8. If you got the money go with the 10k RPM HD...and upgrade the CPU to the next step if its under a 100 bucks...Where is your operating system?

Is this a trading computer or a mulimedia computer? I question your use of both in the same machine, as I suspect you want both...use separate machines and isolate yuor trading...
