  3. Only 3% of the US power stack is in petroleum, basically nothing. Natural gas is far more important as a bellweather for domestic power gen and solar.

    I only tell you this so you don't get too excited about oil being the catalyst for solar. Natty will have it's day soon, but we are looking at a glut there this cycle.

  5. All of the solar plays are up nicely. CSUN appears to be struggling slightly, although, it is higher. At one point in the day it was down, but lets focus on what is up today:

    JASO- 6+%
    FSLR- 5+%
    STP- 3.54%
    ESLR- 4.95%
    SOLF- 6.97%
    CSUN- 1.31%
    csiq- 6+%
    SPWR- 3.16%
    TSL- 6.65%

  8. Oil closed over $71 today. Oil powers very few power plants, but it has a psychological effect on alternative energy. When oil spikes, politicians love to place themselves behind alternative energy.

    Solar is mainly subsidized by governments. So if oil plows higher into the 80s, then plenty of politicians will be willing to stand behind alternative energy plays to include solar. Alternative energy bills will have solar included in with them.

    My prediction is that oil will be at $100 by the end of the year. When that happens, everyone will be screaming for politicos to do something. Alternative energy bills will be rushed through and lots of solar will be written into it.
