Since Schwab is dropping support for it's CyberTrader platform, I am looking for a new broker that supports automated trading. I am a non-pro trader of US Equities and my system at CyberTrader is fully automated using VB. I use the API to do alot of Primary-Peg with Iceberg/Reserve orders on both INET and ARCA. I average about 777,000 shares/month and want a competitive commissions schedule. In addition to order entry, Iâll need feedback on orders, executions, positions, shortable shares, and margin limits. Iâve been studying IBâs API, but so far itâs coming up short. I looked at IB's CTCI/FIX but it doesn't seem to provide feedback on orders, executions, positions, shortable shares, and margin limits? Is there a broker with a more complete API??? Thanks for your help!
IB's API has shortcomings... That require creative programming to overcome. There are ** many ** IB API front ends out there... Take your pick.
Primary-Peg orders are supported by the ECNs, but if IB doesn't support 'em in their API, I can't see a way to program around that. Do any IB front ends use the FIX protocol?
See if they fit the bill. Just a heads up first, they require $50k to open an account. http://www.redskysecurities.com/r3/apis.cfm
