I now am able to login through website and at least see my portfolio (pending orders did get executed). However i am not able to trade Did hedge most positions now through different broker.
It still wasn't working for me so 5 minutes ago I uninstalled TWS and I downloaded and installed the latest offline TWS build 981. Once I did that I managed to log in immediately. All the data connections are now green.
Still unable to login from cellphone IBKR app from Vancouver Canada area at 335pm EST (stock markets close in 25 minutes). The IBKR app is what I use to trade, normally works fine. Trying to login from PC to the IB "Portal" (I use the Portal to get reports and adjust account settings) also gets hung at the same point where it tries to securely confirm my account on the cellphone IPKR app. Related issue: I have had periodic problems logging in to the Portal (on PC) for 6 months! IBKR phone login will succeed but the PC Portal does not get passed the confirmation so I cannot get into to the Portal.
I think the (lack of) communication is the most disappointing aspect of this event. Everyone knows and expects that tech will experience issues, but IB needs to do a better job of getting in front of these things quickly on the communication front. In terms of being down and mentioning a "vendor", this clearly highlights a weakness in the entirety of the system architecture, redundancy and their ability to deal with fluid failures that threaten uptime.
I just got into all my accounts (lol) Anyhow, tough day for IB customers. I'm not making excuses for them but I have never had a significant connection issue in over 20 years. Also, I believe most of the customer reps are working from home so this would be especially difficult for everyone. Try to see the big picture - they still have one of the best records for reliability. I expect things will be fine tomorrow.
