Like Mike Tyson said, everyone has a plan till they get punched in the mouth. Rousey has never been hit like Holm hit her. Rousey is a take'em down to the mat kind of fighter. Holm obviously trained to defend against that and she is a much better boxer/kick-boxer. Should definitely answer the question whether or not she could take a punch from Mayweather.
A little off topic, but one of the funniest thing I saw in a boxing match was a full kick thrown by one of the combatants. Don't remember who was fighting, but the guy who threw the kick had a MA background, was getting pummeled, and resorted to his prior training. Pretty sure he had a point taken away. I believe he lost the fight.
That is the truth! Karate trained people don't learn that until their first street fight. Shotokan is kind of good: "see a target, hit it" I think that is their main philosophy, that and building unbelievable powerful bodies. Any plan more complex than that isn't going to work once your brain gets jarred, not unless you have twenty years of experience in your style. I watched the Rousey fight, it's kind of pathetic really, she's developmentally disabled, no? I mean, people worked to bring her along and she grew up pretty well seemingly but seeing her start looking around only to receive a kick to the head from that animal she was fighting, it just seemed wrong.
i pay good money every month with a subscription to ppv for ufc but Rhonda rousey is a joke, as are all the women fighters. Dana white should put them in their own separate league for people who like to watch girls fight: possibly with ultra skimpy shorts mandatory. When there are girls matches I record the ppv so I can fast forward to the men's fights.
RR is good, very good. However, I think she started believing her own BS about invincibility. She wanted another KO in "50secs", and as a result was overly aggressive. Holm is "rangy" and a first class boxer. (RR suffered devastating left hooks b4 the kick that ended it) Deadly combination for a fighter (like RR)that "cut her teeth" in Judo and likes to work up close inside.
Ronda takes another beating. Gone in 48 seconds. She did a great job beating up the girlie girls, but those days are gone, and so is she. I'd be very surprised to see her fight again.
