Former colony it is an irrelevant remark. Venezuela while being a former colony was once one of the richest countries in the world. Admit your political bias for being an apologist for a failed country whose dictator is a communist.

Apologists for the former USSR will say that true communism was not practiced in Russia.

It's really not. By and large the former colonies are today's "shithole" countries. Not a coincidence. Everyone is in the same race, working hard to win it, but some start way behind (and others start way ahead).

Yes, they were wealthy once. Just like S. Dakota was. Until the price of oil fell. S. Dakota was then propped up by safety net spending funded by our wealthier states. A country like Venezuela has no such out.

  3. For the same reason people follow the radical left and right. Create a boogie man to blame for all your problems. Do think for yourself, listen to the self proclaimed "experts". Independent thinking not allowed. Believe the unbelievable. example, big store with hundreds of people touching everything in sight is safe from Covid, but the gym with 10 fucking people in it with every God damn one of them keeping a distance and being sanitary, that's dangerous.

Yup. And if at any time the 1% are becoming the boogieman, marketing marketing marketing to get the 99%'s attention back on each other and to battle.

The US consisted of former colonies as well. So, there goes that retarded argument.

But, they do have an out. Why didn't someone in Venezuela simply invent the internet, cars, Apple, TV, radio, the microwave, electricity, create a different industry, massive biotech company, the lightbulb, gum, ice cream, soda, the electric motor, computers, iphone, Facebook, Google, ecom, ebay, paypal, watches, modern manufacturing, etc?

Or, why didn't Venezuela simply copy US tech and manufacturing like China or Japan?

Do you really think that drilling for oil is the only thing that Venezuela is capable of doing?

I see it similar in fashion to an ENNE group, Liberal vs Conservative vs Moderate and all the variations between. That being said, I have seen people over time change political stances (not very often) most of the time I believe the parties shift platforms to gain voter advantages and in doing so alienate others, thus the pull for the independent vote. Human nature (those above personality traits) drive us into like-minded circles.

Though you don’t understand it, (think of it as a repelling force) the reasons behind Trump’s appeal to a very large percentage of the conservative base are just as valid to them as the social causes you hold dear.

The problem we have today is our political system divides us in a way that to gain political advantage usually incurs a cost to the other side. This just continually widens the social gap between parties.

When you put everyone in a room and ask them what they want, you’ll find most everyone wants the same, security, safety, family, etc....there might be a different order but the top 5 will be shared by most.

Ask yourself why do we politicize and platform the fringe interests? The DNC has its own Trumps

70 million votes for Trump shows that he does not merely represent fringe interests but is part of the mainstream.
