i have not been following this thread....ever since the OP (RTD) called me an idiot when i said was long appl (in this thread or the other "shorting appl and goog" thread...i don't spend enough time on ET to remember or to care). did he ever say if when he stopped out? RTD.....i still have ALL my appl shares. do a search on my name. to RTD's credit, he may have possibly made a few dollars on his goog short IF he didn't get knocked out when goog ran up pre-EA. he also screamed to buy BIDU. so maybe he is one of the many, many traders who tends to just break even over the long run. people like him who post supposed entries and no exits while calling others names is one of the reasons i find less and less value in ET.

Please please DO NOT short AAPL. This is one of the important rules in trading: Shorting stocks can be very profitable but do not short stocks with great earnings. AAPL is the stock that we buy low. It's all about risk/reward ratio. Fund managers love AAPL and they buy to hold longer. AAPL is not expensive at all. Short stocks with weak fundamentals and they are up because of a strong market, the percentage drop is higher than shorting AAPL any way. There are many to choose from. PALM is a good example in the same sector.
Stocks can be shorted for many reasons. But saying something like: I think XXXXXXXX has come too far too fast. So... I short it. This is a newbie's game. A $15 overnight gap from the earning release. Get a hang of it yet? How about today's $6 to $7 run up. All in 2 hours? Good luck if you are still playing stubborn and hold AAPL short.
Good logic here from RDT http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=196241 since he wont come back to this thread best line is "stocks can trade over under their true value for years" WTF do you do in meantime while you watch wide mouthed your account erode away For any newbie this thread should be a must read-at least one of the core mistakes can be avoided
as long as the market remains choppy and goes sideways... AAPL could keep moving up. They've just reported having a big impact in Japan and being able to ship 1.69 million iphones. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601110&sid=aVnohWdOUNs8
anyone coming here.. talking poop about shorting AAPL POST a screenshot of your long position and target
