I am being SQUEEZED!!!! by the ES

Discussion in 'Index Futures' started by saxon22, Dec 3, 2010.

  1. I did not cover more because I was asleep. If I had been awake I probably would have gotten out at 2.5 points (which is what I generaly do with 1/2 of my position). Also to me (operative phrase being "to me") the es market looks like it is ready for a correction. I think it will tank a bit (to around 1200ish and then finish the year with a nice rebound to make everybody's number look pretty. Actually my plasn was to get rid of 60 and keep 7 in play. Had the market sold off another point it would have been achieved. It did not and I still possess 26.

I am not over my head as I have done 50+ cars before (not in one order but all together ). When you go this deep you get to tango with your emotions and it is a great excercise. It is sort of like driving a car going 140 mph. After that putting a couple of cars on the line feels almost liberating and downright easy.

As for the bonus question. I could place 70 cars on the line. I could plece even more but with my style it would be a disaster sooner than later. You see I have noticed that the reason I panicked and could not control my emotions was the relative small acount I was working with. So I decided to fill it up and then try again. Guess what, the fear was no longer there and I was not going through cigs. like a baby through dipers. Once I had the emotional control I could take care of the rest. I am sure you are familiar how easy it is to place just one car on the line with a 5K account. Now imagine how it feels doing it with 150K? I wish I could use the full potential of my account but I know it will put me in ruin sooner or later. So I do my thing with 1 car here one car there. I add at support or resistance. I add when the market is at S1 or S2 or R1 or R2. I add when the market goes up 10 points or go down 10 points. Once I am in green I take off half at 2.5 points and let the other ride. Most of the time it works. Sometimes when the market goes in one direction - it does not and hence those monster whale like positions of 30, 40, 50 or even 80 cars.

Now I am sorry I did not call anybody an idiot, question their trading ability or generally bahaved like a high school smart Aleck. Not my style. I hope my answers were to your liking.

As always much love to all

  3. yeah, and that works wonderfully until it doesn't and you get carted off the field.

AMT had a nice habit of disappearing after "accordions gone bad".

  4. You are not an idiot; just delusional....did Baron put you up to this BS....

As your grammar and spelling is very poor it may be of considerable benefit to you to keep both hands above the desk when using the keyboard...

Anybody commenting on the wisdom or sympathy of this 'Walter Mitti' needs to get a grip on reality..:(

Buddy, it is obvious from what you have posted that one of three things has occured :

#1 - You've posted complete fiction for kicks.
#2 - You are SIM trading.
#3 - You are trading real money but the size of the trade
is small compared to your total account size.

Why would I say this ? Well, almost everyone missed a key point about this thread. On Monday morning, the S&P 500 futures were at 1234 area and you would have got a margin call. Even considering the idea of a sleepy brokerage monitor, we opened well in excess of 1230.

Here's your chance to prove me wrong. Please outline your exact unrealized loss in real dollars at 9:30 am on Monday. Then explain why this didn't involve a margin call ( you have not mentioned such a call in the thread ). Your trade involves potentially unlimited losses that must be ok'd by your brokerage.

If you cannot explain yourself, this thread should be deleted or moved to "Chit Chat" where it belongs.

  6. Actually no.....I don't throw on bulk positions at a time. When I initially get into an Accordion trade, I stack orders over a range of price with a set distance between orders. I then have a determined gap with no orders and a set dollar amount ultimate stop after that.

You start the trade with a set dollar amount risk with orders spaced over a determined range of price / gap between final entry order and ultimate stop / and then ultimate stop market "stop out" orders. The key though is WHEN to run an Accordion trade. I only run longer term Accordion trades when I see open interest is very out of balance......that is how I have been running these trades for about the last 4 years. Prior to 4 years ago I had other situations I would turn Accordion trades on but those where from set ups not tracking open interest.

The good thing about trading (an individual sport) is a person can trade however they want. Trade set ups you like and don't trade set ups you don't like......no one has a gun to your head. :)

  7. I have had 3 trades take big hits in 2002 to 2004 as I was working on developing a dynamic position trading method (like commercials trade). I dropped about $19k in a Russell trade back in 2004 I think after I was loaded up and then big news hit. Accordion methods are not workable if you do not know when to start this kind of trade properly or if you do not use an ultimate dollar amount stop. So over the years I have continued to evolve my Accordion trades but I have not really made any changes the last 4 years.....using open interest based entries was the last modification 4 years ago.

If trading is just a "game" to you, then you may get carted off the field. If you keep working at something and get focused then you can develop some good methods for yourself.......your choice.
