The last time that I did a true and proper one rep max on bench press (meaning no lifting of the butt off the bench, and not bouncing the bar off the chest) was in 1992 or 1993, when there was a competition in the gym where I worked out. I was able to lift 285 for one clean rep, and I recall when I was doing the bench for reps at around that time period I was good for about 4 or 5 reps with 245 and a good 8 reps at 225. (I weighed about 145 at the time; I'm short.) So this calculator is surprisingly accurate, at least as it related to me. Thanks for the link. I'd be curious to know if others also find it quite accurate. I don't do bench press anymore, and I sure as heck no longer attempt 1 rep maxes.
385 x 2 tonight inside a Sorinex rack. Straps and a slight incline. Failed to rack the second (which was scary).
Nice numbers. I recall you do a split routine. What does your current regimen look like in terms of volume and frequency?
Drop sets of limited ROM squats, bench, rack pulls, overheads. Some Oly-stuff, but mostly just C&J. Generally starting at six reps with 70% 1RM. 251 this morning.
