There's a public option right now for some called medicare, ask the geezers about how sucky it can be. Oh and you guessed it, it's perpetually bankrupt and threatens our economy with huge unfunded mandates.

did some nitwit just say he wants that expanded???

  2. i have taken 3 parents through the end of life process with medicare and have one still alive on it now. it is a wonderful program for those who use it. they get the best care no questions asked.
the funding is another problem but is easlly solved by means testing.

  3. You do realize that what you propose "means testing" is exactly opposite of what many want to do making medicare essentially available to everyone which will destroy the plan sooner or greatly decrease the service.

Of course if you get your wish on the
"means testing" you will have to change
to :Gee it's really nice IF you qualify and damn they do a top secret background check to make sure you qualify.

  8. You don't understand Mav, expanded with people who pay premiums out of their pocket not government paid and who are younger and healthier. It would be worth looking at the numbers to see if it's feasible.

  9. Correction it went up 51%.
Can't believe all the people here on the side of the insurance companies.
The insurance companies are not health care, repeat that to yourselves until you understand.
I would pay a premium for a buy in to medicare. At least there I know medicare won't take your premiums and then fight you not to pay for treatment. And the premiums would help keep medicare solvent too. But no say the republicans, that might work and then what would the insurance industry do?

Are there enough resources to provide everything for everyone, if demand increases, prices go up?
