Why do people tell grown Adults "you'll be fine"? Baron, the possibility exists that you could die a slow and painful Death of starvation, dehydration or being ripped to shreds by flying Glass, Metal or flying Alligators. You may also be electricuted by fallen Powerlines. Best to be prepared for every possibility!
Went through a couple of these in the Carolinas... falling trees were our biggest problem. Across roads to prevent people from getting out, landing on top of houses and cars... these were our biggest concerns.

In the military, we have dog tags with our name, social security, and religion to help identify us if we were killed or wounded (unconscious). Some I knew would have their name tattooed on their back just below their Airborne Ranger identification tattoo. In contrast, when working with civilians embedded with us...we would tell civilians to write their names & city on their backs for identification just in case they're found dead without any identification papers. This is very useful especially if a body is found in water because typically, a corpse descends through water with its chest facing the surface. Therefore, the back has a better chance of having identification info about the person instead of writing a name & city on your chest, stomach, arms, or legs. Yesterday, Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody gave a similar recommendation to civilians in Florida who planned not to evacuate for whatever reason. She recommended they write their name & city on their body just in case they're found dead in flooding water or washed into a washed-out home. "You probably need to write your name in permanent marker on your arm so that people know who you are when they get to you afterwards," she said. As stated, in the military we would tell civilians to write their name & city on their backs...not their chest, stomach, arms, or legs because limbs are easily torn off in floods, explosions, fires, or easily eaten off by wild animals looking for food. As for chest or stomach, Florida is having unprecedented flooding. There's an increased chance a name on the chest or stomach would not be recognized or severely damaged when a body floats to the surface. Story mischaracterizes that community. The development has both mobile homes and single family stand alone structures. My power went out somewhere between 2am and 5am, the two times I got to check out my windows. Just came back on 705am and hope it stays on since Milton is out over Atlantic now.
