Hurricanes, Cyclones or Typhoons spin Clockwise in Southern Hemisphere and Counter Clockwise in Northern Hemisphere. Which begs the question, what happens when they cross the Equator?
It wouldn't cross because of the Coriolis Effect for the next few million years. The north and south poles will swap (again). The earth might spin in an unsteadily manner. Then hurricane cyclone typhoon will cross the equator.
You'll be fine, sir. By the time Milton gets to Orlando, the thing will be the equivalent of a Nor'easter and will be asking about his red stapler. We get 3 of them per year on average. If the Epcot dome still stands after this, you'll know it was a non-event. I've seen the track, the strength models...don't sweat it. Just a big bag of wind.
They don't. The equator is way down farther than where these systems form, and where they could cross the "Coriolis line". Any storm that meanders to it would be broken up. Southern cyclones cannot become Northern cyclones.
We have small towns in NC and GA that they are saying could be without power for months, and now we have this in FL, the extent of damage to the infrastructure and the grid as of yet unknown. Here's something to ponder... All 3 of these states... maybe not so much FL but certainly the other two... how will this affect voting day? I can already see it coming. The whole mess will be a ready made excuse for whichever party loses if the election comes down to a few votes in a few states, especially GA and NC. Probably wrong... just thinking out loud as usual. @Baron... you'll be fine. I hope you stocked up on bourbon and dog food though. <--- Edit: And never accept the insurance company's first offer. Never!
