Humana Is Cheap

  1. Opportunity Cost?

Good Point...But at these levels in the indexes what opportunities are you finding?.....DOUBLE TOPS ALL OVER THE PLACE GOING INTO AN EXPIRATION WEEK

I have been on the sell side for the last few weeks and have saved myself a small fortune. Yes there have been some stocks that have gone higher after I unloaded the majority of the position, but in the aggregate the positions would have given up close to 4% of the gains....Could I go fishing back into some of those previously sold positions....Of Course, but these positions could just be in the first phases of selling and the bounce back could be met with more selling....

I find Humana to be cheap mostly because it was one of the only positions I held through May and didn't sell until Mid September...Along with many other HMO's...Rightly So I must add... So starting back a position right below 53, 15 points lower from when I sold in September seem to be a good starting point...I understand the game will be changing with the HMO's looking forward, but the demographics in America suggest a solid long term hold....How did the HMO's perform during the last sell-off in MAY....Very well...One of only a handful of industries that were in an uptrend....If we start to sell off again I can only guess that this industry will see similar price action....I can't forecast what the market will do given the recent political changes, but I see owning a beaten down HMO over many other high flying sectors....

Try to understand that this is just one of +250 stocks in my portfolio, So the opportunities that are out there are getting slimmer for me....And the overall outcome in the market will more so dictate my return than HUMANA ever could, but at these levels and anywhere 6 points below all look like great opportunities to be adding shares to HUM....Other HMO's starting to look attractive as well with a few more days of selling....I'm watching price action closely for any signs of a bottom in this industry....It could be months away!!! and I am fully aware of this...

  3. Not the strongest close for the market, but who would really be buying into the PPI numbers tommorrow....Volume was weak for the last 2 hours today all over the place, but HUMANA had a volume spike...The position on Humana as it stands today...

    My positions
    200 shares @ 52.98
    200 shares @ 52.75
    400 shares @ 51.82
    total
    800 shares @ 52.34

    Todays close @ 53.79
    2.77% unrealized gain on a falling knife....OPPORTUNITY COST....I will take a .923% daily return (Over 3 days)

Humana Inc.'s volume rose after a Goldman Sachs analyst added the Louisville, Ky.-based health insurer to his list of preferred stocks. Borsch said the market's concerns about a Democratic Congress give investors an opportunity to buy Humana's shares inexpensively.

Shares of Humana rose $1.83, or 4 percent, to $53.82, with volume rising to 3.4 million shares, versus average volume of 2.6 million shares.

You gotta love beating an upgrade from GOLDMAN SACHS...

Well we can try it again....I have gone to a 70% cash position,

    From my journal!!!!

I took my gain on HUM and left myself with only 100 shares thankyou very much!!!!....But HUM does look attractive with the double bottom down here....

Along with my gains on GM @35.36(Thanks Tracinda) and 300 other stocks that have flat lined and/or falling (SOME ARE RISING).....So what did I not thin out besides my favorite international positions (No I will not mention any of these for you)....

    EXCHANGES....
NYX, CME, NDAQ, LAB, ISE, BOT
    FERTILIZER
POT, TRA, TNH, CF, SQM, SMG, POT, MOS, BBC (sold most yesterday...4 day trade for 38%)
    TRACTORS
    DE, CNH, AG
    FINANCIAL
GROW, MER, GS, MS, AGE, DB, CS, BSC
    GAME MAKERS
    MCZ, ERTS, ATVI, KNM, NTDOY.pk

Along with many other stocks in many other sectors...

.....I'm sorry you can't figure this thing out.....So I thought I would give you a little help....Come chase up here at these levels....You remember "PRESS YOUR LUCK"....Don't talk to me unless you have something to say that is worth saying....My performance speaks for itself and the only reason I share on this forum is to help others look at the bigger picture and not the tick by tick tragedy you live in....Here's a Penny for your thought....

  6. LMAO. You said the stock was cheap, and that was the reason you purchased it. You made sure you rubbed in your "unrealized profit" when the stock was upgraded. Can you say "LUCK". If you based your trade on a pivot point that would be one thing, but that was not the case. No reason to get upset about it.

And thank you for helping the little people. You are just so kind. LMAO. You really are full of yourself.

  7. I'm still holding 100 shares, but I liquidated my portfolio....Most of my positions are now under 5 grand instead of 30.....HUM was no exception...BTW it would only be down less than 1% from my average price....I did not give up on it...I just treated it like most sectors....Sold north of 85% of the position....

  10. I never buy stocks in severe downtrends, so you are correct, I did not purchase it. I normally wait for some type of consolidation, or I short them.
