  1. The guy is a ship lost at sea..He simply "drifts" wherever the current winds blow him. The guy flip flops from "Hopey Progressive" to "Hopey Centrist" and all over the map. Maybe some advisor told him that he should try to "appease" as many groups as possible, but in the process he has alienated all of them (except people "of color", gays and clueless women).
