How would future economies work when 90% of jobs are replaced by robots/computers?

  1. I'm afraid yes, but I am depressive so don't take my word for it as the gold standard. All you mention are wonderful as adjuncts, but if all I had was to travel the world, I'd rather not be here.

That said, sailing the South Pacific is on my bucket list. Even as a crew member, as long as it's on a sailing yacht. :)

P.S. You will never know how perceptive your comment really is.

  2. Sorry to double dip on the response. Space travel like Star Trek, yes. Earthbound? At my peak I got on a plane 3.3 times a week on average. Nowadays, I look for every excuse not to get on a plane.

Fair enough. On the sailing side, you might PM me and we could talk about that. I'm pretty big into sailing with an around the world trip on my bucket list as well, although not for a while. However it's easier than you might think to hook up with a boat as a crew member, so if you're interested I could provide a couple pointers. I'm talking 40-50' private sailboats with probably a couple and you on board so you'd be taking watches sailing the boat, not cleaning decks on a megayacht.

  4. Will do, but not right now, in the next day or two. I like the idea you mentioned, a friend suggested the same but getting a masters cert first. I can't, I'm colour blind (blue and red candles :D). I'd need to brush up on my sailing skills, but I have an open invitation to head down to Phuket for that so no worries.

Not for a while works for me. I have other stuff I want to do first. But sailing the South Pacific, yeah, that's something I'd like as a last memory.

Or at least even if you are working for somebody else, always think of yourself as an entrepreneur because you are in fact the sole proprietor of your business which is selling your labor or skills to somebody else who is probably your employer.

  9. You didn't want to read the article and asked me to explain it.

    I did.

Don't waste my time arguing it.

  10. I agree but I don't think it needs to be "socialism" as in government controlled or owned. A privatized property interest similar to a trust fund could be established for citizens that like a trust fund vests at 21 yrs old. Right now it appears the game plan is to expand the earned income tax credit.
