How would a SWIFT ban impact owning Russian stocks?

I was hoping to get a serious and realistic answer...

 

Do you think commerce is going to stop because of sanctions? How does Iran continue to sell oil...

 

Or he takes over Ukraine, sanctions are relieved and Russian stocks rally 50percent.

 

Or he takes over Ukraine, sanctions are not relieved and Russian stocks drop again 50percent.
Nobody knows.

Or Putin dies and Russian stocks rally 50percent.

 

So what is the answer? What should that Russian exactly do?

thats my point. It’s not obvious that kgilroy’s trade idea is bad (contrary to your post). I would say the risk reward favors him.

I don't agree.
If nobody knows what can happen, the probability to make a profitable trade is too low for me. I never trade anything if I don't have a probability of making money that is much higher than the probability to lose money.
50/50 is not good enough for me. So the risk reward is not favoring anybody. It should be above 50%.

 

Would you take a trade where you can make 5 to lose 1 with 49:51 odds?
