GOOD MORNING! We got the bank deal done! I had long talks yesterday whether to go long banks because of this reg bill, in the end we did not. Might of been a mistake. I am 47 I think. I have no idea where Jack H lives! (there you go again sir! you really know how to get the si going) In terms of threatening people I'd like to see where I did that! I believe I said your snarky comments after I busted my but for all you guys has me inclined to toss you about a bit/ that's friendly work out talk. I am well aware that due to my size and temper and ability to deliver an energy punch I have to be very careful with any actual blows delivered. I have already given you my gym's address which is located within ten blocks of my home. For all I know you are a stalker, although I am a good judge of language and writing skill and I regularly have personality mark ups made for me by a friend in intelligence. In fact I have a file on you Mark, so your personal back round is not as hidden as you think. Semper Fidelis! I'm not on a high protein diet I don't think. I'm a little down in the dumps today because I went and got acupuncture yesterday and I told the guy all my symptoms and he said " when is the last time you saw a Dr? " What kind of comment is that from a alternative therapy guy?? Now, I'm really scared. I guess I have this one last thing to try-- chlorophyll. Don't laugh, this extreme concentrated stuff will force oxygen into your blood platelets nothing else will. I'm leaning on my Mom's cancer recurrence as a reason for stress and shallow breathing- thus less oxygen. If I can't turn myself into a plant- I'm screwed. >> A word about brokerage statements-- It might surprise you to know -- I don't look at them. I throw them into the closet unopened as you will see if you come bye. This is more of a " luck " inducing method to my madness, as well as a frustration that my large accounts will remain entirely invested whether the world is burning or not. >> Your request for my personal info seems especially funny in this light. My wife won't even go through the closet but you may. Your request is also so stupid, I can't even upload a darn picture to this site I have tried. You would like me to take 3 portfolios of ten pages each redact every cusip number and paper trial and code and SS # and zip code etc. And then feed them into my computer how? Just shove the pages into the keyboard. If you haven't picked up on it-- I'm kind of old fashioned- I type. I prefer a typewriter but I'll type on this laptop I have no big computer I have no software I have no cell phone. BANKING STKS RISING!!!! Man stoney blew this one folks... 2 hrs on the phone yesterday whether to take a big stab at MS & I probably was too busy replying to Mark! Anyway MS is a bad symbol for me now as it's one of the diseases I am supposed to be wary of with tingling hands and feet. Anyway I hope all of this helps explain how traders maintain an edge... I don't consider myself a trader but an investor so what works for me may not work for others-- still Mark you can do yourself a lot of good by just following along. Buy what I buy and then at the end of a month or so see if you care about brokerage statements. Who knows with some dough you might get off your macrobiotic diet. ~stoney
In fact I have a file on you Mark, so your personal back round is not as hidden as you think. Semper Fidelis! The few personal info can be found about me via simply talking to Baron (ET owner), Joe (ET manager), moderators or the web itself via what I've allowed to be known. The info I've allowed to be known is something I'm very comfortable with letting others see. Anything else you find is strictly business related. My offer still stands...you can pm me with your home address and phone number and I'll gladly share with you personal info you won't find on the internet (see example below). By the way, only reason why I asked about Jack's address is because I heard he was located in NYC and was wondering why you two haven't hooked up together considering you seem to be "inviting" others to meet you. Also, you consider a broker statement with all personal data blacken out as too personal but meeting a stranger at a fitness center or your home as not problematic without any personal background info about me other than what I've allowed (posted myself) on the web...interesting. Regardless, now that I'm convince I won't see a broker statement from you to help verify your discussed trades/investments nor a pm with your home address...very similar to Jack Hershey said in the past. Thus, I've lost interest in this thread nor will I be a troll to you. Also, I'm not interested in your stock picks nor investing advice but I do hope others find your investing advice useful...no ill will from me about such. Therefore, good luck, good health and have fun (online and offline)...wont bother you any more. P.S. I regularly get my sushi from the following location. Thus, please update your personal file on me or fire those that forgot to tell you about one of my favorite hang outs (regular client) near my home. http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&c...Yuzu+Sushi+Legendre&iwloc=A&ved=0CEUQpQY&sa=X Mark
My Friend- first off you are no troll. I respected you because you showed an interest in my trading. I made a very fair offer to you, one I'm quite sure no one else here at ET would have. secondly now I feel very sorry for you because you eat Sushi in a parking lot somewhere in Canada. NY has very good Sushi. Your offer has changed! Now you will give me something if I email you so I think I just might. I'm going to put a Seeking Alpha piece here later to show you why I got upset. It's over. I can see I rattled you with the Marine inference but that is what my profile guy said about you... he detected a military connection. I have not checked in with Byron although I do remember that name. I used to sign off my victorious threads with " Put That in the ET book Byron! " later I realized it was Baron. Now I know you are not as naive is you sound. We live in an age of identity theft. I would much rather meet you at a public space and let my ESP work over you than hand you a sheet of paper that might unlock my bank account. That statement by you is downright silly. You also talked about Jack again! In not one letter to me did you not use that name. I'm furious still about that. Also I've invited no one to meet me but you so don't make is sound like I have no friends. More like 4. Your paragraph about lacking interest in my threads & picks flashed a great deal of insincerity- indeed you will be reading every one of my posts I am sure. ~stoney
Well Mav YOU ARE OBVIOUSLY ALSO MARK! remember Mark likes CSI! Aha! And you have a much longer post history with ET! I knew it. Let me say this loud and clear--your use of graphics is fantastic! And the way you got those stoney gay parade jabs was fun, unique and different. Perhaps " fag " street should of been " drag " street you don't want to offend. My mother is big into Antiques and I've always had a lot of gay men around me, my old best friend -- rest is soul -- was way gay. But he was also head of video at Andy Warhol studios and brought me right along. What a job that was right out of college! I could tell you stories but lets not make this about me. I used to live in the West Village too! And that parade rolled on buy-- it made crossing the street very difficult. Any way in stockworld I've gotten some phone messages on REFR -- I know it's moving, I know it broke significant LT resistance... I'm just not jumping. I don't know why I've alwayS liked the company they do windows that magically darken saving energy... I've got 10 of my names over at the hedge fund now-- that's dangerous there is just so much money. each time I buy something they sell something they picked... a buyout that I miss could really hurt... Maybe i'll just sell the small lot of Anadarko and use that. Visa Vi INTEROIL after being down 6 days in a row the interday looks pretty darn constructive, (IOC) & with AKRX... every day up a bit.... BUY IDEAS- IOC // AKRX //...... REFR.... these are by three ideas & PPO up 6% again today... this stock is being manipulated I don't mind saying - it makes these lightning plunges into the $21.50 area and then like clockwork each day explodes. Incredible stock for a day trader-- which I'm not I've tried to establish a position twice only to sell out quick-- If the goal is big money- which will bring it?-- the oversold oil & gas mostly gas stock with no deep water rigs or exposure? The pumpy window company that has been telling the same story for years but is actually getting product into some of these new min vans... the small price med/bio that looks technically the most sound or the lightning fast tech & filtration co... I'm leaning to either REFR or IOC.~stoney
I don't agree with that, you will become a jack of all trades and a master of none. Very competitive markets cannot be operated in profitably by "jacks", only by "masters". Imagine a baseball pro doing NBA and football on the side just in case he hits a slump. The best way is to use strategies that endure, such as fading sentiment extremes, deep value investing, trading macro trends, playing news, long/short equity etc. If you are doing easily replicable strategies like convertible arb, then you have to expect at some point the returns can dwindle to t-bills plus a basis point or two. You need to be playing *permanent* inefficiencies based on human nature or human stupidity, not temporary market inefficiencies.
This is very simple. They never talk about, explain nor share their edges. They don't post on bulletin boards, anywhere or at any time,so as not to increase the traffic to these places.Unfortunately, because these rules were not followed in the past and the added existence of a Terrorist conspiracy,we are now faced with the imminent death of financial trading.Let's make sure that the guilty pay,at least.
No expert here, but what I have observed is that the more robust edges like Cutten speaks of are harder to trade, less well defined, and more openly shared. The more precise the edge, probably more work went into it, and the less likely the inventor would share it.
