How to short U.S Government Bonds?

  1. SKF was up 200% at some point in time the same as C was down 90% and up 200% in 2008.

  2. key word "at one point". it would be luck if i could pick the 3 days this fund was above $200 to sell.

the 2008 return of the skf was -2%. how is that?

    1/2/08 SKF closed at $104.49

on 1/2/09 SKF closed at $102.05

So if you held the Ultra short Financial for the worse year financial you had negitive return.
the funds objective "The investment seeks daily investment results, before fees and expenses, which correspond to twice the inverse of the daily performance of the Dow Jones U.S. Financials index."

i don't want to have the correct trade for 2009 short long term tresurys and while the the long government bond is down say 30% my 2x short inverse trade looses money.

I know the the skf is 2x the daily return so its is a good day trading stock, but not a good long term hold. Does TBT act the same way as skf?
