How to short the S&P using options? Day & swing puts

    Seems like the validity of a traders setups and entry triggers would play a vital role in P/L.
    If a trader can profitably daytrade a 1 to 10 minute chart, would it work to buy call for long and buy put for short?
    Would this possibly work better for individual stocks than for index jobs?

  2. Given the ease of doing so with those timeframes, try it!

    Obviously paper trade it first, but put the results on here.

    Thank you for your perspective. Very good. I agree that 2x 5x etc too small. Must look for edge. Where returns outsized to risk. Thank you!

    Do you mean instead of using options, futures with stops can replicate the pnl of options for intraday purposes?

    Hey there,what would you say your hit rate is on these short term trades??

    Im looking at 30 delta,5 day options with a hit rate round 20% over the last 10 years.I do have a tight stop,but I like what I am seeing..thanks for the "wisdom"

    A tight stop?
    like a sell stop order at a % of premium? (eg: sell stop at -50%)

    Yes,ran some backtests on SPY trading different delta options, and a 25% option price stop..
