On the subject of navigating large threads, how does one jump to a particular page? The page links at the top only cover about 10 pages. How would I quickly get to page 493 of an 800 page thread? It's probably obvious, but I'm stumped. Just signed up yesterday.
Just change the page number at the end of the link. For example, lets use this thread. Page 1 with 5 posts per page http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=83590&perpage=5&pagenumber=1 Page 2 with 5 posts per page http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=83590&perpage=5&pagenumber=2 Page 3 with 5 posts per page http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=83590&perpage=5&pagenumber=3 Simply, if this thread was 800 pages long and you want to go to page 493... Page 493 with 5 posts per page http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=83590&perpage=5&pagenumber=493 The above link will obviously give an error message or only produce the last page regardless to how many pages are in this thread because this thread at the time of my writing is on 3 pages long. However, if this thread was over 493 pages long...the above link would be valid. Happy Holidays and a safe one. Mark
If you're using Windows, the File->Print... dialog box should have a Print Range section. The default is All, but you can also choose Pages from: x to: y. Just type in the page range you want to print. Choose File->Print Preview... to see how many pages total can be printed.
I wish ET would make the image attachments (jpg/gif/png, etc.) appear online automatically. Saves a lot of trouble in printing.
No, that wouldn't help with printing a really long forum thread. The problem remains exactly the same -- no one has yet come up with a way to generate a printable object, either on screen or in a file, to which you could apply any of the File - Print menu set of commands (Print, Preview, Page Setup). See the apparent limitation of printthread.php, mentioned by syswizard above. If a thread is long, but not so long that the limitation applies, then, of course, the File - Print set is the way to go, as I already described:
