How to make Raderscreen act as scanner

Discussion in 'Trading Software' started by OptionScreen, Nov 18, 2005.

  1. I know how to use Radarscreen to search for any criteria based on certain interval "for the selected symbols".

Now, i want just do the opposite of what above does?

-I want Raderscreen to find me a list a symbols from all
universe of 15,000 stocks that meets the conditions that
    i have specified
-Sort upcoming new symbols(that were not on the list
within last 30 seconds) that meet my conditions, to the top
of list every 30 seconds (without the need to add any
    symboles myself)?

    Thanks

  2. I don't know if they still have the limitation, but Radarscreen was only able to have something like 1000 symbols at a time. It doesn't do overall market scanning.

For end of day I use other products to scan for info. I don't use anything intraday but I'd love to find out if there was something affordable I could - or whether Radarscreen can.

I'm trying to figure out how to do the exact same thing. I've looked the documents over, and it seems you have to specify your own list.

I thought about going to the industries list, and then just adding every single industry. But even if this is possible, every single stock would be listed in the window. I think the next step would be to eliminate stocks that don't meet your criteria, but I can't find any way to do that either.

Would TradeStation support help with RadarScreen? I think that's the next step.

Radarscreen is NOT a scanner. It only allows you to MONITOR
stocks during the day. You may ask what is the point. However
instead of having 100 charts of different symbols u can monitor
them in one window. I would add that its only worth it if you use
indicators and have clearly defined rules for what you are looking
for. In other words if you use descretion or are a chart analyst
then Radarscreen is NOT for you.

The best way to see it work is to go to the Tradestation
site and view the intro and training videos.

  6. The screening of strategies with Intraday data can go as
    high as 2000 stocks.

Radarscreen is a unique tool that no other sofware able
to do what it does, but on the other hand it can't do somthing
simple that many software can do

  7. There is no information on how to use it the way i need
on TS site, I looked at TS forum also, however I am not
allowed to post, as i use my friend User/Pw to access
    timebeing

  8. You need to keep adding symbols.

Radarscreen is like running 5000 chart analysis,.

It takes a lot of work to scan every single bar for every single code you have coded in.

Of course it can't scan the whole market, but you can add all the symbols though.

I have around 650 symbols in there.

    Works VERY well.

  9. There are a few .pdf documents that you can download from their site (probably in the member area) that explain radarscreen but the concept it pretty simple (I"m not an expert, I don't use it that much yet).

    1. Open a radarscreeen window in your desktop/workspace.
    2. Put the lisdt of stocks in it you want to "track"
    3. Attach a strategy or some indicator code to the radarscreen window.

For instance, you can create an indicator that the cells turn green if 4 or 5 different conditions are met. Or, it can generate an alert or something similar.
