How to know what announcement is a "major announcement"

Discussion in 'Forex' started by buzz buzz, Mar 16, 2006.

  1. I've been following reuters and some other sites for forex news. However, most of them only tell the news after its happened. I am not looking for forecasts, but I would like to know when announcements are expected and which one is major. If I knew a really major announcement was coming out, I would not trade anywhere near that time. But if it was a less important announcement, I might take a guess.

Is there a really good web site ?

  3. Mostly US releases:

Thomson's IFR news, free via fxcm will have mention/commentary on ALL news releases during the week then day of release.

Some 'major' releases turn out to be non events, however that isn't known till after the fact. The greatest impact seems to be — but not always — when there's an over/under estimation of what the data being released will be, the 'consensus' is wrong.
