What about when they do their curls inside the squat rack cause they're too lazy to bend all the way down to pick it up. Get outta there boy!!! Go play on the damn smith machine

  2. Nothing beats the basic exercises. I keep the isolation stuff to a bare minimum and a distant second to the basics. (I'm the only one in my gym who does weighted dips and chins, at least while I'm there.) Since you mentioned curls, I only do barbell curls. I used to do only dumbbell curls in the past, but found it took longer because of the alternating movement. Who's go time for that? :D

  3. Actually, I like to do barbell curls off the squat rack. It has nothing to do with being lazy. I just like squeezing every last bit of strength and energy into the exercise movement itself and waste as little of that effort as possible on the setup immediately preceding it. Really.

I'll tell you what's lazy, though. People with personal trainers who stack their weights for them.

  4. Is there any scientific evidence that lack of ejaculation causes lower testosterone production?

Boxers tend to refrain from ejaculation before a fight so it does'nt make sense that it would lower one's testosterone level.

You gotta get a peak on those 12 inch "guns". You guys are cracking me up. I joined a new gym 3 weeks ago and so far I have not seen anyone there use the squat rack for actual squats. Of course you have the guys that load up the leg press machine and lower the weight 3 inches. Always kinda wished they would go past the point on no return to see what would happen but I wouldn't want to see someone get hurt :)

  6. I know what you mean. However, going below a 90-degree angle is courting knee trouble down the road if you're pushing heavy weights. I try to go as close to 90 degrees as I can figure. Also, years ago someone suggested that the seat be placed on as steep an angle as possible, so that you are almost sitting up, as compared to reclining. I find that this helps to focus on the quads much better. As an aside, our leg press has an adjustable protective mechanism so that the kind of injury you referred to does not happen.

  7. i could not agree more with you...my two cents:
as a competitive powerlifter from the late 80's ; i recently gave it another go (kudos to atticus for some training) and was shocked to see what today is considered normal lifting. triple ply shirts and the such turned me off real bad. i ended up finding "100% raw" federation and recently placed in a contest. no lifting shirts, etc. it was exactly what i was looking for since i did not want to compete on that level. since the march meet, i learned that those shirts are responsible for 75 to 100 pounds..not for me. i hope my old ways have a come back, but things do change.

  8. Yes, I put one of those bench press shirts once, and started to panic when I couldn't take it off! It was literally stuck on me, and I hated it. I can see where one would get a good bench with it, but I'm out on that idea. Felt like some kind of rubbery straight jacket!

It took three guys at the gym to get the da*n shirt off of me. Horrible experience!
