Quote from msfe: you could as well ask the panamanians about the americans and the indians about the britons Indians and Britons (British) ???? I know Americans have problems with world geography, but history ?
where's the history problem toby? the british were never in India? (and msfe is from swizterland... ) btw, facts aside, that was a fiendishly funny song!
And let's not leave out the Spanish and the French and the Dutch and the Belgians and the Russians and . . . ---Db
Probably Toby, that American ignoramus only knows one meaning of the word indian, and that is the natives who lived in American before his ancestors went there. Is it not funny that to this day these poor people are still called "Indians"? When Columbus got there, he thought he was in India and that was the reason why he called the people there Indians: a mistake carried through the centuries
the government of the czech republic have distanced themselves from outgoing president havel´s signature on the letter of the eight european heads of state in support of bush´s war against iraq. it was officially stressed that havel was by law not entitled to speak on behalf of the czech republic but only for himself as a private person. tomorrow, sunday the 2nd of february 2003, will be mr. havel´s last day in office.
When Mr Rumsfeld made those remarks about France and Germany, I also heard that he was not speaking on behalf of the US government. Is that really true?
A glance at the poll results might give a clue to why many non-Americans don't like us. Now I know that most of the morons are just mouthing off - but the people in other parts of the world don't. And I know that the rest of the "shoot" them crowd really mean that someone else shoud actually do the deed so that they can see it on the tube, but the rest of the world doesn't...
Tampa good points. But I wonder what would happen if americans started voting with their wallets and purses. If the americans who think the French and Germans have been irresponsible in allowing this Saddam problem to fester were to join in a little selective shopping we could have some interesting things happen. I guarantee that if someone got on O'Reilly and made this appeal the Germans and French would be on our side faster than you could say "I love dollars". Imagine all those BMWs and smelly cheeses with nowhere to go.
You're such a philosopher.........NOT! This thread was started by an irate Indonesian who objected to another thread being started solely for Americans to discuss the current crisis among themselves, without leftist op-ed pieces being cut and pasted throughout by, among others, an extremist German troll. The poll results were, I believe, a reaction to them. Furthermore, I doubt very much this ET thread is being read worldwide to the extent that it is causing the masses overseas to confirm the negative opinions they already possess towards the USA. As far as your viewing those on this thread who agree with the stance our president is taking as armchair cowboys content to let our armed forces do the job they're supposed to do (how dare us?!?), why don't you step up to the plate and defend your beliefs by joining the human shield forming up in Baghdad? Or are you content to be an armchair hypocrite?
