How to bookmark a post within a thread?

Discussion in 'Feedback' started by ElectricBlue, Nov 20, 2008.

  1. I know how to bookmark a thread, but sometimes I want to bookmark a single post within a long thread. Any suggestions?

  2. The only way I know is a real hassle, but I believe it's the only way.

You have to click on the posters name and search his posts. When you find the post you then click on the Post: link and copy/paste the URL. Some boards provide a link on the posts to do this but not the ET board.

That's why we need a post number. All message boards have it...

  4. I found a way to bookmark a post. It's not pretty but it works:

    1. Hover your mouse over the "quote" link.
    2. Look in the status bar you will see the post id at the end of the URL. Memorize this number.
    3. Click in the address bar, move your cursor to the end of the address.
    4. Type #post.
    5. Type the post number.
    6. When you are done typing it should look something like this:
    http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=145540#post2187644
    7. Press enter, the page will reload and you can bookmark the page normally.
