How to be a Guru in 10 easy Steps

Discussion in 'Psychology' started by TheBestGuruEver, Aug 23, 2009.

  1. A while? In Feb you said you were a newbie:

My advice to newbies like myself is get what you need, keep a hold of your wallet, and get out as soon as possible. Thats what I intend to do.

    WTF

I step away and get tagged with a quote I never made

I agreed with Steve - people for the most part are not willing to work for what they want/ get….

I am a trader – nothing more - and I definitely have nothing to sell - or a web site

I am assuming Steve is a trader also - No - because I don't know him from adam

    So clue me in please?

eta - BTW my kids don't even want to work for stuff most of the time - they just want me to hand it to them like their friend's parents do

I suppose I do - but I just ain't into all the BS - I'm not wired that way

I thought the way I was describing stuff was being interpreted as infantile by him

he referenced me specifically in his post - I responded to him

  4. TheBestGuruEver: A position trader (futures) who hates all GURUS.
MandelbrotSet: Daytrader (futures) who hastes most GURUS.
Trader666: Position Stock trader who (you guessed it) hates most GURUS.
Redneck Trader: Day/Position trader who (most likely) dislikes most GURUS.
Steve911: (aka Steve46, Stevesbg) works with professional traders, but loves to hangout at ET. His semi-professional status (no real pro in their right mind would be caught dead in this place) he thinks makes him better than most of the people on the Board and leads to delusions of grandeur. No idea about on his take on GURUS, don't really care either.

    There ya go.

  5. I don't think someone claiming that their sister and niece jumped off a building during the 9/11 attacks is "BS" ... I think it's an insane, incredibly offensive, plea for attention.

Knowing what lies someone is capable of helps when having a conversation with them.

That, in its essence, is really what these "anti-GURU" threads are really all about.

  8. Informed

    Informed

    Open 256 accounts,

Trade half against the other half, close those losers, you will end up with one account showing 100% winner (16/16)!

  9. Education, Research, and Screen Time are some of the biggest factors in a trader's success but really without the "testing" phase that can be done without financial risk, I would say this is where the 95% of failed traders miss their chance to join the 5% or so that can make it.

  10. RN,

Sorry if quoted you for something you did not write.

So let me say something gurus do NOT like saying...

    I was wrong.

    I apologize to RN.

    RN did not deserve that.

    Steve did.

I should have done some research before simply ASSuming you said it.

    You did NOT.

    LOL
