how the catholic church turns off young people.

  1. As far as I know, none of the major religions approve of sodomy, I suppose intolerant bigots exist everywhere.

  2. his analogy was that people who don't agree with something - generally don't attend meetings with an organization that does.

they attend a PRIVATE CATHOLIC SCHOOL, so the church (owners) decide what goes and what doesn't.. not you, not the students, not the govt or anyone else. If the beliefs of the church are unbearable to a student then they should go to another fucking school. It is that simple. Same with country clubs etc that don't permit women members.. go to another fucking club , start your own, but leave the PRIVATE club alone.

Good luck on trying to get that idea to fit in the brain of a liberal, they believe they are entitled to everything at others expense.

Why do you fixate on the extreme? Are there laws against rape? Last time I checked ...yes. As for a general curriculum, no a private school is just that, private. If they want to teach Creationism, Abstinence and Advanced Gospel Singing along with readin', ritein' and rithmatic so be it.

I'm sure they would need to pass some type on minimum scholastic requirements to be accredited. But if people are willing to pay for themselves or their children to attend, based on their curriculum who are you to say they can't because you don't personally share the same beliefs?

Go fly a kite. I'm personally offended that my tax dollars are wasted on gay, lesbian and socialist propaganda in our public schools..... where's the tolerance of my beliefs?

  5. yea i just don't get this mindset: if you don't like a private organization, don't join.. and if they don't want you, too fucking bad. Its like immigrants that move here and expect the rest of us to adapt to their way of life.. well what the fuck did they come here for then? If you are leaving a garbage country to live here, why would you want us to become more like the shithole that you came from? the nerve on some people..

This school is not the affair of the state, which is probably half the reason the parents send their kids to this private school to begin with. The other half probably trying to avoid extreme leftist crazies such as yourself.

Love the second paragraph though, a bigot calling out bigots. Fucking hypocrite.

  7. Looking to nature only provides more and more evidence that the stuff in your holy books is totally wrong.

Dolphins, for example, engage in homosexual behaviour. So much for the nature argument.

If religion is what gives you peace in life, so be it- it's a right and the state does allow you to practice your religion despite the constitution of most (barring some) countries founded on a non-religious framework.

Your faith has no place in society otherwise (outside of your private domain). Fact based inquiries and scientific method is the only thing that keeps society going. Think of religion as an extremely silly hobby. Stupid even.

Oh, and btw, Atheism and promoting gay rights does not fall under a belief system. If you don't like the state meddling in your private affairs (i.e. private school) then you don't have the right to meddle in someone else's private affair (weddings- whether between a man and a man or a man and a cow- so long as the cow consents). Take your neo-con pseudo-intellectual, illiterate, dark-ages mentality somewhere else. Kony called btw...

    and as a last word...

Faith is belief in the absence of evidence and frankly most of us rationalists aren't idiots who believe crap written in 2000 year old books. Just to set the record straight.

Fuck any church who stands in the way of reason.

    Edit:

Fuck ANYBODY who stands in the way of reason.

  8. I am an atheist, i spent a good deal of my time in catholic schools including college.. but i stopped believing in god about a year after the easter bunny. Regardless, homosexuality is unnatural. Just because it occurs in nature doesn't mean it isn't a defect.. most people have some type of defect "no one is perfect" blah blah. If we were all homo, we would cease to exist, that is just a fact, so obviously it is not as nature intended. it is more of an exception that proves the rule.

I don't really have a stance on gay marriage.. cause honestly i just don't care, let's the states decide. I do have an issue with a same sex couple adopting children however because that is absolutely un-fucking-natural. It isn't healthy for a child mentally or emotionally.. imagine when a teen boy walks in on his daddies..

  9. How is it unnatural if it occurs in nature? The way you're looking at things is from a very narrow perspective. Most humans don't have an IQ above 180. Does that mean they're unnatural? No, they're just as human. So that logic has no validity. Just because we fail to see extremes within our own environment doesn't mean they aren't part of the overall picture.

Nature is an abstract concept. When you say "nature intended" it doesn't mean anything. It's not some invisible hand guiding us. It's just a bunch of chemical reactions. That's all it is. There's no rule dictating this is how nature should be. Homosexuality is as much a defect as having a high IQ is. Everything is natural. Everything that exists is part of nature. Nothing was "intended". That's just got no sense to it.

And no, we are not all homo. But some of us are. And maybe one day we will all be homos and not have babies and thus die off. Maybe that's how things will turn out to be. That's completely natural too. We can't let "what if's" allow us to pick on others from leading the lives they wanna lead- especially since you or I or anybody else doesn't give a fuck about any other baby in any abusive household- ONLY HOMOSEXUAL ONES. That's hypocrisy at it's pinnacle! Nobody loses sleep over that. But in California and other states, apparently meddling with the affairs of other peoples' lives keeps people awake at night- all because some invisible space daddy told them to (and because they felt it would be bad for the kids to grow up in such households. You don't see them picketing against abusive heterosexual parents... no... that is something the state should do.. eh?)

As far as it not being "healthy for a child mentally or emotionally", who is the right judge of that? Right, child psychologists, scientists, etc. Not you. Not me. And the verdict is out there. Some of us just don't choose to read it. It's been shown study after study kids brought up in a single father/ mother or a homosexual household are just as happy/ mentally developed and not-socially-awkward (as is otherwise believed) as any other kid brought up in a normal household.

Just because one doesn't think the Earth isn't round doesn't make it stop being round. It's the 21st century. If your arguments held, most of Europe and Canada, which, lets face it is in a far better economic AND social condition than the US is in, would be dealing with problems of awkward, mentally disturbed kids from homosexual families...
