Yeah he had a 40% drawdown but it made it all back in a few months. Hey, you said you wanted volatility. LOL. He made just shy of 100% his first year and he's up 20% so far this year. Not too shabby.

I didn't say I wanted, I said I would accept. Our volitility is daily not quarterly typically. I think he does a good job; but your typical instituition doesn't have the stomach for a 40% drawdown. I think he will have a slow climb to critical mass; i.e. $100 milion + under management ...
Yeah but look at how little he started with. Sometimes the best time to get into those funds is in those early years. The returns start to fall off every 25 million you go up.

For the investor yes; but the manager wants assets. I do a lot of VWAP presentations to asset managers. They are getting just 1% and expenses. I always leave those meetings feeling sorry for those guys; 1% on $50 billion, that is only $500 million for delivering index returns. But at least the clients pay their expenses; and lets not forget the soft dollars that pay the expenses again ...
