Fortunately the voters in our state did not allow any of the Democrats with KKK ties who ran for office in 2010, 2012, and 2016 to win their races. We elected Republicans without racist ties instead in those races. Sadly several of these candidates such as Benton previously held elected office as Democrats in our state.

The state Democratic party denounced these two candidates; not the local Democratic party. While it is good the state party denounced these two candidates, it is a shame that the local Democratic party allowed them to run in their local primary and did not reject them from being affiliated with the party on the ticket.
