No, dude, listen to me man. I'm going to try one more time with this. Yes, they are GOP votes but for all practical purposes they don't count in the general election because those votes would not vote for Romney anyway. You don't understand, the point I am trying to make is that Romney is NOT losing those votes because he NEVER HAD THEM. You can't lose what you don't have. NOW, if you are making the case you won't vote GOP in other congressional races because you will change your part affiliation, then that is a different point entirely. But that will hurt the GOP at the congressional level, not in the White House race. At the current time we have an electoral college system. Whoever gets the most votes in each state gets ALL the electoral votes. So the GOP will get the same number of votes for Romney regardless of whether Paul is on the ticket or not. The math doesn't change. The only argument you can make is if the Paul supporters were "undecided" between Romney and Paul. THEN you would have a valid point.
We are very close to an understanding. We agree the votes (from Paul's supporters) would only go to Paul. If Paul got the GOP nomination, by extension, the GOP would receive those votes. If Paul does not get the nomination and runs third party, those votes go with him. The math changes the moment Ron Paul's voters have another way to vote for him. If he doesn't run third party, then your point will stand. If he does run third party, giving the disaffected Paul GOP wing another place to go, they will go there...effectively changing the equation and, in all likelihood, guaranteeing an Obama victory...sadly.
Ugh!!!! I give up. I tried. I really did. LOL. The math is very straightforward but I have failed to communicate it to you. I'll leave it at this, Paul will have no effect on the 2012 WH race. Trump on the other hand, or even Palin, could really do some nasty damage. I could even see them running together. Talk about a black swan event.
lol. what is it with the right wing mindset that they long for dysfunctional people as their leaders? there certainly arent very many thinking people that would choose these two.
That's the point. Many on the right are so pissed off at the established GOP figures that they would nominate Ted Nugent. I kind of respect them for that. They know they will lose but they want to change the party.
I make sure to notice when Ron Paul does well in polls but the MSM ignores him. It really should make you wonder why. The media should be reporting, not filtering. It doesn't matter if you think Paul has no chance - it's not the media's job to pander to your bias. So the more they do it, the more you get the feeling "Somebody doesn't want him to win." So do you follow along like a good poodle, or not?
The problem for the GOP is that they have come, in the public mind anyway, to be thought of as the party of the rich, and no one cares about the rich right now. Yes, I know the democratic leadership is full of 1%'ers too, but at least the democrats try stuff, say things, that get them labeled socialist, so they must be doing something right.
He's already affected the race for the WH and the establishment knows it. The corporate media organizations are out in force attempting to marginalize his campaign. Cain wins a straw poll and he's an instant front runner. Ron Paul wins a straw poll and his voters are stacking the deck. Romney wins an online poll and all is well. Paul wins one and it is taken down because it goes against the corporate narrative. We've sort of had this discussion before. You may recall that you asked me to provide you with proof of the corporate media bias against Ron Paul. I provided it and you said nothing, indicating to me that you now agree with that assertion. Also, he's forced all the other GOP candidates to mimic his positions and effectively changed the debate in this country. He has woken up a good portion of our country to the realities destroying this once great nation and win lose or draw, that awakening will not go away. Maybe Gary Johnson will be the eventual beneficiary of Ron Paul's accomplishments; however, to pretend he (Dr. Paul) will have no effect on the race is patently absurd. Other GOP candidates are mimicking his talking points for one reason and one reason alone...because those ideas now have real support. That's not going to change anytime soon.
