IB is not that cheap for many order types. SMART routing will often get terrible fills and it's not so much the fault of IB but the routing destinations. I'm curious where rmorse sends his orders (liq. providing, nasdaq listed).
Yeah, by a lot...but you would need to hit some volume minimums. Also, there is typically less hand holding technology wise, so you'd likely need to be somewhat competent at coding.
